Default Wax, leftover haze

This is the first time waxing my 05 this season, the previous owner had it before, anyways, I washed it nicely and went to town with the wax (I havn't started the entire clay/polish yet, still too cold) After finishing, I noticed in places there was swirls and oily looking swirls, faded areas that almost looks like oxidation, only black, you can see it at the right angle. It looks like a ghost of the motions of applying the wax. It also looks like you should be able to wipe it off, as if I didn't do a good job wiping it down, but it doesn't come off. I also noticed that in some places, the finish is almost matte, and feels like touching say plastic like your computer as apposed to what a clean car should feel like. The wax was only on the car for like 5-7 min. And it's Turtle wax

First Question...

Was the car completely dried off prior to waxing?

Second Question...

What applicator are you using to put the wax on and what are you using to take the wax off? Are they both clean?

Third Question...

What are the instructions on the Turtle Wax?

yes, a microfiber cloth, it says apply in circles and let dry to haze, then wipe off...

looked at it again in the bright sunlight, almost looks like oxidation and feels like it too but it seems like the wax left it there.. I'm wondering if it's simply old wax or it just didnt come off well enough?

First, throw away the turtle wax.

Buy a decent quick detailer...it will come right off - you probably applied too much wax.

You can use any wax remover from the auto store to get the wax off, but I will save you money and time by saying, if you want to do it right, you need to wash the car, CLAY BAR it, get the swirls out with a polisher and some good polish like menzerna and THEN get to waxing.

Again, no offense, but doing it half way or taking shortcuts will produce "half" results. Put the time into it and you'll see the difference.

Waxing a vehicle that wasn't clay bared by the first owner and has all sorts of crap on the paint isn't going to look good, not to mention rubbing whatever is on the paint with a wax applicator is going to put more scratches into the paint.

Another great product I highly recommand is the gritt guard with a good 5 gallon bucket, so your wash mitt doesn't scratch the paint and ofcourse a good washmitt.

so what should be my next move as of now? Wait till I wash it again and do the entire process? Or should I get some kind of QD right now and try to take the wax off? Or will claying it take care of that film?

And peleg I'm thinking about getting a buffer but im scared away by the fact that I could ruin the paint, any quick tips for a complete newb?

Don't do anything until you:

1. Wash

2. Clay

3. Dry

4. Polish

5. then wax.

A good paint polisher like the Porter 7424, good pads, polish and the right technique will not harm the paint.

Get in line pal I live next to him and he still won't detail my car.

And I can vouch for his online advice. His car looks amazing. I thought I had a clean car till I met Peleg.

I thought it was Wash, then Dry, then Clay . If you want to see a decent starter video on these techniques, check out youtube or Meguiar's website.

Peleg, do you still detail your car during pollen season?

Hmmm..when you fly me there and I have a place to stay. I won't charge you for the detail either, I'll just guide you through the steps. All you have to do is have some materials.
