IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I did do a search and did not come up with information that answered my question. I am looking for information on the proper way for upkeep on a Clear Bra. Specifically, how to remove bug goo from it without ruining the Clear Bra finish. I currently have tried to remove the bug goo with a hand car wash but it seems as if the goo smears and creates streaks on the Clear Bra. I had the Clear Bra installed right after I bought the car new. I did wash and pre-wax the STI before having the Clear Bra installed. Once installed, I washed and waxed again after the recommended time. I even recall letting my car just sit in my garage for a full week while I was on a business trip letting the Clear Bra set prior to wash and wax. So.... What is proper maintenance for a Clear Bra? How can one remove the bug goo smears (or bugs if you already have not made a mess of things) on a Clear Bra without damaging the Clear Bra finish? Is there a technique used to still get proper wax coverage on the paint and Clear Bra and avoid having to rub out the white line created where the Clear Bra ends? Any other relevant information you could add? Thanks much. EDIT: I guess maybe expert in the thread title was a little too strong...sorry. I am just looking for advice from people in the know. Some of the thinner ones are more delicate though. For them, isopropyl alcohol seems to work well for cleaning them. You could also use a plastic cleaner like Plexus. |

| Junior STI Driver | Talk to the place that installed the clear bra. There are special cleaners you can buy that are designed for use on clear bras. I don't know the name of the cleaner off hand, but I know the place that did mine had some for sale. As for the bug guts, you can clean them with some soapy water, which will remove most of the guts, but the blood stain will still be visible. After a few weeks with sun exposure the blood will fade away. At least this is the experience I have had with my clear bra. |
