It's not as easy to build a customer base, I'm not attacking what you said....but rather saying, I wish it was it, I could have made $600/day and be my own boss.

I am no expert on detailing cars. I know that a guy who is finiky about his exepnsive sports car will always choose the porfessional carwash for a detail over a young guy like myself and have no problem paying 3 times the price. Im not looking to take away from the carwash in my towns buisness at all. I know the kind of people in my town that I am dealing with... Wealthy lawers with 650 BMW's and soccer moms who drive Range Rovers. These people most likely do not go and spend a ton of money on a detail at the carwash. They arent real car people, they are the kind of people who own expensive vehicles that get dirty from everyday driving and have like 3 kids in the backseat that get stuff dirty. THIS is the market I want. Wealthy people whos car is drity and needs a good detail without the hassel of dropping their car off at a shop. SO I look like the perfect person for the job, Im come straight to their door and whatever time they choose(if im available) and do a simple full detail on their car. I wont charge a lot of money and they get what they want.

Detailing is paint correction...any time you are using a product on the paint you are correcting the small imperfections left by water spots or previous buffers, towel drying, factory overspray.

Learning what products to use in different situations is detailing. Tossing a coat of wax on a car and calling it a day is no detailing.

A true detail job takes hours. You will use varies products. Taking out all the small swirls, scratchs, oxidation, haze, making the paint smooth and even across the whole surface.restoring dull and faded paint to it's origional shine.

Here is and example of a detail job i did:
01' Mustang Bullitt
before

after

Even on my Typhoon look at the difference between the left side of the hood and the right side. There is still alot more to go on the right side. But there is a noticable difference already.
