Default Time to build a 112 octane tune

Hey all,

I run my car in Street Mod autoX, and I'm pretty into it... so I'll be trying to run 112 octane for races this year. A perfect application for the AP if I cna build a nice 112 octane map.

I am not aware what the MBT is for a pretty-much stock 2.5 (has EL headers), so Im curious to see if anyoen else has worked up a race-gas tune before.

How did you start? What AFR did you target? How did you decide on where to start with the igntiion advance? Did you go for alot more boost, or just alot more advance?

Thanks for the help,
Chris

Here are my opinions on running 110+ oct tunes. I would #1 leave your fuel targets alone. By adding 4+* of advance your afr's will lean themselves out, but this is dependent on how close you MAF tune is to your actual fuel targets. i.e. when I had a stock intake and MAF curve, I was targeting just about 12:1 to get a 11:1 actual afr. When I ran race gas, the combination of about 1psi more boost and 4* more timing, my afr's leaned themselves out to 12:1. I would then set all your boost targets to max of what you would like to run. IIRC you are running an EVO 16G, so I would target probably 25+psi with that high of an octane rating. For a quick start you could set all your 60+% throttle high WGDC tables to 100% and your lows to 75% and tune from there. I wouldn't mind doing some tweaking for you to try out and give you a starting point. Since you are doing auto-x I am not sure if there are any limits on the boost but I would run as much as possible and set you lower throttle points way higher to build boost. Getting you AVCS on track will help you keep the spool up as well. Fuel would be the last thing I would tune, since I think getting the rest dialed in would seek far greater results.

this is not true.

adding 4* of advance will NOT cause a leaner afr.

the maf has nothing to do with it.
