Long Overdue TDC Mapping Simplified

Ok, after the whole crazy TDC touchiness of Wolf's TDC remapping, we all learned how sensative the TDC is in regards to the throttle response. Looking at the stock TDC you will notice some dramatic 'outliers' at the lower rpm and TDC sites. This IMO is much of the reason for the 'touchy' throttle many people speak of. I have tested out some combos, and found one that I really like. Very simple but makes a dramatic difference. This is with my FMIC which adds a tiny bit more less touchy feeling (i.e. not used to it ='s stalling) but on a TMIC it should work very well. See below for the details. Enjoy.

I just made the above changes to my base map and reloaded it. The improvement to light throttle driving is very noticeable. I highly recommend this subtle, yet effective modification.

Thanks, yea I love the way it feels now. It feels much like the way wolf had previously rescaled this map but with only about 3 data points changed!?!

I also made these changes a few nights ago with the latest ongoing revision of my stg 2 map. Definately smoother response in under light cruise/city driving.

Here's my question though. Why would want the throttle so "touchy", with varying duty cycles in the mid range(duty cycles going up and down within the column, between 1200 and 5600 rpm)? To try and answer myself, my assumption would be for reasons like spool characterisics, WG, and timing settings?

On the flip side of things why not get the duty cycle for the pedal travel you use up, or atleast relax things quite a bit up until maybe the 38% or 49% columns? If I am understanding this table correctly, the throttle actuator duty is how much the throttle body is open. Having it open 50% when the pedal is pressed 18% would likely lead me to believe why some people get such crappy mileage (not being able to keep the pedal under the 18% threshold).

The throttle is very sensative to changes in duty cycles. Duty cycles are effectively volts being pulsed to the throttle to achieve a throttle position. It is not clear to me why the ECM sends more or less as the RPM's rise but it has been proven that the throttle does open up more with the same TDC as RPM's rise. Also keep in mind when you are running less boost in stock form, the throttle may not feel as touchy. But it is clearly evident as you bump the boost and start messing with CL/OL transitions. IMO the TDC should be tuned based on mods. Here is a good reading by Chistian on the TDC:
