Unhappy GP Moto Header and Cobb Stage 2

I have upgrade my STI06 w/ a catted Cobb and a foam air filter. After loading the stage 2 program and doing a baseline on the dyno I only got 263 bhp and 280 Ft-lbs of torque.

I went ahead added a header to my STI(GP Moto with jethot coat), guess what?? I just finished doing another dyno run on the car w/ same program (Cobb stage 2) last night but w/ the header and the numbers came out lower……. 254 WHP down from 263, torque 260 down from 280......it looks like the Cobb Stage 2 and header are not a good combination...any hints on what should I do next in order to fine tune the current set up on my car.

Thanks,
J

The headers might require a protune to really unleash their potential. I'm surprised it actually lowered your hp and tq w/o a tune though.

What Dyno are you using???? You will need a protune to take advantage of the header.

dude, you just compared two different dyno runs on two different days.

unless you did a run, got the #'s, put the header on immediatly after that, than ran it again and lost power, i wouldnt be worried.

oh yah, get a protune.

Default GP Moto

-Dyno runs were done on different days, maybe that could play into the reduction on whp/torque.....

-Do I have to re-flash the ECU w/ another base program and then re-flash it w/ Cobb Stage 2.....so friends mention that maybe that could help...

-Other mods on car - car only has Cobb TB w/ cat , AP stage 2 93 oct....
-Perrin Foam filter
-stock all other parts

Thanks for your help,
J

hey man, just to let you know. I have a perrin downpipe, hks carbon ti catback (no cats), unequal length gt-spec header, K&N panel filter and AP stage 2 off the shelf map. I went to KTR performance and to get a protune and they couldnt tune me so they gave me a free dyno... 249 to the wheels on dyno dynamics on a 85* day. Don't be alarmed... protune is what you need. Needless to say.... I was "less than happy" with my results... haha protune should bump you up...

I have that GPMoto EL header too. It's a great product. You should see good results with a tune.

Ideally a header will require altering the fuel and wastegate curves to see the gains. You need a tune to get it working properly.
