Default 12.88 @ 105.35 on 93 octane... + DCCD problem???

Finally...

Broke my record of 12.98... here are key points relating to tonights achievement:
  • Late last year and this spring, I was running 100 octane and trying to "tune" with it. My best ET was 12.98 and my best MPH was low 106
  • I was struggling to get the air to flow through the engine and was told my CAT downpipe and stock intake were the cause. I was also informed that trying to tune with 100 octane was not the best situation so I changed back to 93 octane
  • In installed a Typhoon and got my airflow through engine much improved but still low from 5K to redline (4.54~4.56 MAF Volts)
  • I installed a CAT-Less downpipe last week and now have MAF Volts up to 4.62
  • Tonight, I ran a best ET of 12.88 (1.800 60') and a best MPH of 106.61 on 93 octane pump
Overall I am very happy with my present tune... I think I can improve it a bit but feel it is close to perfect.

One thing I am struggling with is traction... If I give it any boost at all at launch... the tires spins like crazy. As a matter of fact, I am wondering if my AWD is messed up. My Buddy's can see all four tires spinning at first but they can't tell if they are spinning all of the time. One of my passes, they said the front wheels were definitely not spinning... just the rear's. In the staging lanes, my ABS and full rear DCCD light started blinking and I spun the hell out of the rear tires only.

Another thing.. If I "lock" the DCCD and turn a tight corner I get ZERO binding.. this tells me something is wrong...

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Jeff

if your avatar is any indication to how you treat the driveline, i'd check the dif first.

Thanks to a tip from Shawn... I was able to get the DCCD lock to work again. I just disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and re-set the brain. If I set it to lock now it binds like normal.

Now... what is causing it to fault? I think there are at least two options:
  1. I forgot to connect the two connectors that go to the DCCD switches in the console when I ran power and low level audio cables to the trunk. One day when I was driving I noticed the ABS and full rear diffie indicator were blinking. I figured out the problem and re-connected the connectors but never disconnected the battery. I can only hope this caused the problem
  2. One of the ABS sensors is messed up
I will give it some drive and track time to determine if it is surly solved... if not, I will take to the dealer for a check up...

I hope it can take it too. The driveline is pretty stout in these cars so I hope the ecu reset was all it needed.

No... I mean, if I stage then pump the gas to build up boost it spins like hell. If I don't pump the gas, it falls on it's face...

How much boost do you typically build by revving it?

The data log shows pumping it only gets 1.6psi till I launch it then it quickly goes to 8.56, 11, 14, 17, 21... etc

I think pumping it just gets the turbo spooling up so when you launch it the boost comes on very quickly.

i'm voting lack of switch connections caused the fault until reset

Yea and sometimes on violent launches and ruff surfaces your one of your ABS sensors can trip fault and cause that to happen, its happend to me once or twice. You can tune out some of your violent launch/boost with AVCS which I have been tuning recently and has made a pretty big difference if the spool/ performance of the car. Christian tipped me off on how to tune it nicely starting off with 40 in low load areas (under 2000rpm) and tappering off to 0 by 4000 rpm in higher loads. I noticed a nice increase in bottom end and spool is very fast and solid now. I figured I would post my AVCS map but use it at your own risk and keep in mind I am running alky which shouldnt make a dramatic difference is any at all since this is just for spool. Tuning out AVCS at 4000 makes a pretty nice bump in power since the stock/stage2 map runs AVCS into higher rpms which from my testing and other tuners as well, just decreases power and may have only been tuned that way for emissions reasons. Here you go, any feedback from others would be nice as well:

CI.. thanks for posting the info regarding DCCD and AVCS. I will study your map later and may give it a try. To date, I input zeros in all load ranges from 4K to redline... but I didn't add anything to the lower RPM's like you did.

Thanks again...
