Default EcuTek changes 06 PCMs so that nothing else (ie Cobb, OpenECU) can write to the PCM

Im mailing off my PCM and AP to Cobb to see fi they can fix the issue, but the claim is that EcuTEK writes some security business to the handshaking protocol that futzes up APs and other writing programs.

EcuTEK has been a total waste of my $800, and is now keeping me from cleaning up the mess.

I'll keep folks posted.

-Chris

If this is actually the case... and taking in to consideration the current state of the ECUTEK product.. I would say ECUTEK sucks now.

Affirmative. If this is the case, we NEED to get the word out.

I need to finalize what the actual details are with Cobb. I also have an issue with one's inability to sell a license (at least on an 06 with the PCM coded to the keys), the inability to do live tuning, and the lack of a user-tuner capability.

Once I get the details ironed out about what they've done to the PCM, I'll make the broadcast. Even the Subaru dealership couldnt get on the PCM to wipe it.
Of course the EcuTEK SW magically works fine, and at least TARI can still monitor it and pull codes.

If you have your Ecutek dealer flash your ecu back to 100% stock than you can marry an AP to it without losing the original Ecutek License.

We tried that, and it didnt work. EcuTEK agrees that that will not unlock the PCM.

They have release a new version as of yesterday to remedy this situation. Please contact PDX and they should be able to sort it out for you.

Well put and 100% agreed. Cobb FTW

If this is true you might want to post to the Sticky thread in ECU Tuning & Performance Electronics to be sure the word gets out. However I suggest that you add some more facts, such as pointers to something from the company.
