Default IAT ignition retard

I've been searching the manual. This isn't available through street tuner is it?
Is this alterable through protuner?

It is available in ProTUNER.

Thanks

I was contemplating going with a fmic, but living in Hawaii, my intake temps get pretty high in traffic, even though right now I have an APS CAI.

Do you think the current table is too conservative?

If I move to a fmic, I'll most likely have to run a short ram. If anyone has a basemap with the amount of retard lessened, I'd appreciate it.

Other than that, here in Hawaii, I have no access to a tuner that would alter that table for me.

I asked Christian (from Cobb) whether I should do the same thing for the same reasons. I just put on a front mount and switched to a short ram and I live in Florida where the summers are very toasty. He said that while it might be safe to do so, he wouldn't do it unless he could get it on a dyno to make sure the amount of mod was safe. After thinking about it a little more, I decided I'd rather leave it alone. It only takes about a minute for me to drop below 122F once the car starts moving again. Having the ignition pulled for that period isn't so bad. If I'm in stop and go traffic where it would likely be pulling timing, I'm not going to be going WOT much anyway.

I care about the car's response more than WOT.
I hate the dead feeling I get when driving around town.

I put my short ram into the "worse" area of my car a few days ago and have been driving around with frequent visits to the high IAT department (those above 122). FWIW, I'm never getting that dead feeling. I do know what you are refering to because I used to get it when I was using the stock turbo/TMIC. I don't know if I'm not experiencing it now because the FMIC is making the air so much happier regardless of what the IATs are, or if it is because the new turbo just naturally breathes better off boost, or what.

As always, YMMV.

I emailed SS to ask for an altered map; he hasn't gotten back to me on it.

I drive in traffic daily, and because of frustration, I often hit boost and brake hard in clearings, only to slow back down again. This is my daily bump and grind in the mornings here (temperature doesn't change much from night to day here), so the car just feels dead sometimes.
I don't think it's the intercooler heat soaking. I do have a meth kit to help with that. The IATs are often just high.

I really don't go WOT all that often, but I do often hit boost to pass people that piss me off, which is basically every day.

If he ever gets back to me, I'll update this thread.

FWIW, I had some discussions from Doug at TopSpeed awhile ago. He said that he cuts the values in the IAT vs. Ignition compensation map approximately in half. Is that OK? I don't know. For a FMIC absolutely. For a TMIC, eh ... YMMV but I personally wouldn't do it unless I was running Meth. I like to keep things safe.

Is it there a rate of gain and a cutoff point or is it a full table that one can control the ammount of retard based on load, like the wastegate tables?

I know that for some systems IAT compensation is mostly fuel enrichment.

We'll see how it goes if I can ever get a basemap.

It is a 2D table with temperature vs. ignition correction. Look up the temperature, and the value listed under that temperature is the global Ignition correction.

Thanks...

Scott's not getting back to me about the streettuner basemap, so I may just try and fab up my own CAI, or I may just try to alter the intercooler piping to get my aps back in.
