Default Problem with fuel map

Hi all, I am trying to tune a STU map, and I tried to lean out the map and it does not go any leaner at some spots. Some go as rich as 10.1!

I have already done the Intake Calibration, but for some reason, the AFR just wouldn't change much no matter how I modify my Primary Fuel table. Anyone has any idea? Please help!

Oh, my car is an 04, with stock intake box, other performance mods include perrin turbo inlet, ceramic coated header, downpipe w/ a high flow cat, catback.

Here is my Primary Fuel table. You can see I even put 1.0 at some area and it still are running 11.x.

Here is a log.

That fuel map is whacked. Why don't you have AFRs in that map? Leaner=higher #'s when it comes to AFR.
Reload a real fuel map and restart your tune.

When you say that you did the intake calibration, what did you do to it? With a stock airbox you should be running the stock maf calibration.

First, you need to go to the options in StreetTUNER and change the display options to not use Lambda for fuel but to use the AFR. Simple as that.

Second, even after you do what I said above, IMHO, your fuel curve is whacked. There is no freaking way that you want 14.7 AFR (1.0 lambda) at 3200rpms and 3.10 load. Something is whacked on your setup. Even in a worse case scenario where StreetTUNER's AFR is 1.5 points off as compared to reality ... that would be 13.2 AFR and, IMHO, that is not enough fuel for 3.10 load and 3200rpms.

Another reason I think that something is whacked is because you are only pulling a max of 2.4 load. WTF? Stock STIs will hit 3.0 load easily. Heck, I've hit 3.4 load on a few occasions when it was cold out. 2.4 load will correspond to fairly low MAF volts (unless you are running a bigger MAF tube????). It looks like your car is running very very low boost.

hmm... Thanks! a lot of interesting points. I did change the display options last night, and have yet to do any logging yet.

The reason for whacky fuel curve is because I did try to pull a little fuel here and there to try to see if the APR would change, nothing happened, and I ended up pulling a lot of fuel at some area just to prove a point.

I think my stock boost gauge shows around 1 par of boost, which I think is normal. I will try to log my boost later today to see. I have stock air box, so the size of the MAF tube should not be a problem, right? I am starting to think the MAF might be bad? however, when I run the stage 2 map and did some logging, everything looks good? I will see what I can find out today.

Log maf voltage too. If it is abnormally low, it's really easy to clean the MAF (try searching here for it).

You will need to log your DAM to see if you are in the High Detonation Fuel Map...which would explain your fuel curve. Otherwise I would need to know what octane you are tuning with to make any further suggestions?

Take care,
Christian.

ok, today I switched to a base map and did some logging, then I trimmed the fuel a little and it looks like it did change a little(about 0.2 leaner). The max engine load is still around 2.85, is it normal for stock boost? or my MAF sensor need a cleaning? my car is an 04 and 16,xxx miles. Oh yea, I have a drop in filter too, which is not an oil type.

I will do some more logging tomorrow and will log the MAF voltage and DAM. So there is another map the ECU will look at under certain condition? I guess my ECU was doing that then. Oh, I am running California 91...

Thanks for all the help!

Max load of 2.85 sounds around normal for stock boost levels.
