street tuner specific to each car?

is street tuner specific to each car? i mean all it does is make custom maps right and puts it into the access port so is it useable for more than one car?

Street Tuner maps can be shared with others that have StreetTuner for the same year/model of car. They can't be loaded onto a non-StreetTuner AccessPort the way ProTuner maps can.

And you may already know this, but I can't tell from your question, but a single AccessPort is tied to a single car. So you can't just take that one map on the AccessPort and load it onto more than one car that way.

I called cobb and asked them the same question because I have and sti and my brother has a legacy and they told me I have to buy 2 streettuners.

Aye. There needs to be one StreetTuner for each car. However, you can share StreetTuner maps among StreetTuners of the same year/model of car.

I dont have a sti or a accessport, but i was just wondering. How does one accessport get tied to one car? Does the accessport remeber something about the car that doesnt allow it to work on another car. Say you have an accessport for a 06 and you total it and get another 06 will the accessport work on it or do you have to get the accessport reset to work on the new car?

To use an AccessPort on a car you must "marry it" to the car. That process writes code from the AccessPort to the ECU of that car. From then on, that AccessPort will only work with that specific car (well, ECU really). If you want to move that AccessPort to a different car, you need to connect it to the ECU and "un-marry it", after which you can then marry it to the new car.
