| Junior STI Driver | I was looking to install a FMIC with the stock turbo for the time being until I can upgrade to a larger turbo/injectors/pump this spring or summer. Has anyone tuned in a perrin FMIC (or SS autochrom "xs power" intercooler, which is the same dimensions) with a stock turbo and typhoon/short ram intake? What kind of adjustments should I be looking for....I know im going to have to mess with the boost, intake calibration, fuel/advance, etc tables but not sure exactly where to begin. And if you are asking where to begin, just don;t bother to start, you might SERIOUSLY mess something up. just slap the FMIC on and wait to get protuned when you have the turbo, pump, and injectors. no point in trying to get more out of your fmic. |

| Junior STI Driver | Thanks for your concern. I have the Cobb Streettuner. Ive used the rescaled map and tweaked it and things are going ok now. I didnt make any drastic changes, however I know a FMIC will call for more drastic changes. This is why I am asking if anyone has done it so I can see if maybe I could compare their map to my current map and get some ideas. I am all too well aware of how easy it is to destroy your engine by changing things incorrectly. I just didnt want the car to run like crap while I have it on awaiting a protune, but if the only bad thing is more lag then I shall leave it at that. So you believe a tweaked stage 2 map should be sufficient to handle the FMIC (just not efficiently), even at WOT conditions? |

| Junior STI Driver | Well the FMIC is on the car now and a few things I noticed: -When I go into boost a little and let off the throttle the car stumbles a little bit. Not bad but noticeable. -The car is smoother down low (ie less tq) but I have yet to take it WOT because I am worried about AFRs. -There are spots int he rpm band that hesitate, and Im thinking its the result of the shrot ram I had to put on that has a different diameter than the kn typhoon I had on earlier. Rather than try to mess with the maps without a wideband, does anyone have a ST map they did with a short ram, turboback, and turbo xs or perrin fmic? I would like to see what you did in order to perhaps smooth out my map a little bit. The closest protuner is 2 hours away and 400 dollars, which I would liek to save for when I have everything.
