Default To what extent can you reverse engineer a map?

OK, so here is what I have been thinking about recently. I have protuned my car and it runs great, but I am always playing with things and changing things. I have given some thought to getting a ST and learning to tune my car myself.

NOTE: I do not think that I can beat the protune from a great tuner like Harman

I am, however, very interested in learning to tune and love DIY. Thus, getting to my questions. If I collect lots of logs of my current protune, is it possible to use that data to help tune my own car using ST.

Another question: what is your opinion of the power of ST versus PT?

Thanks in advance!

protuner has access to more map tables than streettuner. In theory, you could get a better tune on that software. However, protuner will export to streettuner files. It's supposed to preserve the protune specific information but hides it in the interface. That means you can get pro-tuned and if they save a ST file for you, the car will run the protune mapping, subject to changes you make to the user-editable tables in ST.

Not according to COBB's website.

I had my car ProTuned. When I connected to it afterwards with StreetTuner, it downloaded the current maps from the ECU and I was able to save that as a base map file and work with it from there. All the tables that StreetTuner is able to manipulate were there.
