Default Help with getting LM-1 data into StreetTuner logs

I searched for this (honest!)... I cannot get my LM-1 to show up in my StreetTuner logs. I can set the COM port under Options, but no joy on getting it into the log files or dashboard. Help! -Bruce

Is it working in LogWorks?

note: I have an LC-1, as opposed to LM-1. So, I don't know anything specific about your unit.

I had to download the attached file from COBB.. check the link regarding the matter: http://www.wrxforum.com/cgi-bin/ulti...=000130#000010

FYI.. you just copy the .dll file to the StreetTUNER folder in your hard drive. (My file is located hereC:\Program Files\AccessECU\StreetTUNER_05sti\LM1_Packet.dll)
Attached Files
File Type: zip dll file to make lm-1 work with st.zip (10.4 KB, 7 views)

Hey,

I think I just found a more recient .dll here is the text from the message I found:

MISSING .DLL FILES - If you receive a message when trying to open the software that a MSVC?71.dll file is missing, you can download an installer below which will automatically update your computer for you, and place the necessary files in the correct areas. If you're not getting the error, there is no reason to download these.
StreetTUNER DLL Update

UPDATE FOR LM-1/LC-1 SUPPORT - We have finished writing the support for both the LM-1 and the LC-1 devices. Communications have been improved over older versions. Simply download the updated .DLL file and place it in the Plugins directory of your StreetTUNER folder.

LM-1/LC-1 Update .DLL

*Note - The LC-1 is rather finicky in its configuration so please confirm the functionality using the supplied LED. Disconnecting the O2 sensor from the LC-1 to install into the bung, after calibration, forces the device into an error state where it reports ERROR 8 - indicating there is a heater element problem or the sensor is bad. There is currently NO WAY to externally verify functionality of the lambda data being reported by the LC-1 since Innovate LogWorks does NOT support the the LC-1 and the new packet format.

Hmmm. Interesting. I had already copied LM1_Packet.dll into my Plugins directory under the main StreetTuner directory as the COBB instructions say, but no joy. I'll try a copy in my main StreetTuner directory, too, and see if that allows it to work.
TQ & Rippler - Thanks for the info and pointers - you're my heros - this is what makes this board a great place to be. -Bruce

UPDATE - Apparently, StreetTuner cannot deal with COM port numbers higher than COM4. I have a "modern" laptop (made in the last 5 years). It does not have an old style RS232 COM port on it. Almost no computers do anymore. so, I use USB adapters for anything that is built with an old RS232 COM connector on it. The device manager in Windows XP maps USB to COM port numbers all over the place. Since I'm using two USB to serial adapters, one gets mapped to COM1 and the other happens to show up at COM14. No big deal - usually. It turns out that ST will recognize that the LM-1 is at COM14, let me select that COM port and gives no indication that there is any problem. However, it simply won't work. The same appears to be true for ECU connections, they must be COM4 or lower or ST can't find them. So, I remapped COM14 to COM2 in the Windows Device Manager - and VOILA the LM-1 data starts showing up in the dashboard and the log files.

What a pain in the butt. COBB needs to write these drivers so that they'll not just recognize but actually WORK on all possible COM ports. This is a completely undocumented 'feature' of ST as far as I can tell.

I am using com4 & com5 with my USB->RS232 adapters right now, and had no problem using com5 & com6 in the past.

Wierd. All I did was switch COM14 to COM2 and it worked. I switched back to COM14, reselected the correct COM port in ST, and it didn't work. Switched it back again and it worked. ???????

For actual BIOS recognized serial ports, COM1-COM4 has been well defined from way back with the PC/AT standard. COM5-COM8 became available with Win98, but never were defined as well. I've never trusted anything to work higher than that.

What happens if you try to use COM8?

What brand of serial adapter are you using? Has it worked with anything else on COM14?

IO Port is the brand. The LM-1 works fine on COM14 with Logworks 2.0. That is what makes it so annoying that it won't work with the COBB software, too. That is also the reason it took so long to diagnose the problem. I"ll try COM8 this evening and report back.

I need to check my laptop and see if this is what happened to me this weekend. My LC-1 quit logging. All I get are 0.00. The LED shows it is working fine. I was using COM4. I will have to check the Windows settings to see what comes up.

Okay I have checked my laptop. COM4 is what it was coming up. Changed to Com2 still nothing. The LED shows the system is fine. Any ideas?

Basically the LC-1 worked and then quit when I tried to use it one day last week.

Update-

Talked to Innovate. They had me reload LM Programmer and LogWorks. When I then tried to connect w/ Programmer it would see the LC-1 again. LM Programmer, LogWorks and finally ST are all now seeing the data again.

Unknown inital cause of data loss.

hmmm... I ran into something similar when I first installed the LC-1. The version of Logworks shipped with it wouldn't work (1.2), and it wouldn't talk to anything. 6 weeks later, I d/l LW 2.0, and everything magicly starts working. That is until the A/F multiplier decided to change itself. 1 reprogram later, it's been fine since. I keep waiting for it to change it's mind again. :/

I wouldn't give it a product of the year award.
