IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | ROFL .... psyche What I really meant to say instead of STI Pink Springs is Home Depot Silver Springs: http://www.bescaredracing.com/sti/tu.../helperspring/ Bought the 11.5lb springs a long time ago but didn't put one in until today. We'll see how this spring does and then, if need be, I'll upgrade to the bigger 19lb spring similar to what TurboQueef is using (or downgrade to the 9.5lb spring). I can't emphasize enough for anyone reading this to keep watch on the injector duty cycle and the AFRs at WOT ... along with keeping in mind that the VF39 becomes a flame thrower at high RPMs by forcing more boost that is outside it's efficiency range at those RPMs. BTW, for those wondering where my heatshield bracket is on the VF39 and wondering where my APS heatshield is: I sent the APS heatshield and the stock heatshield off to JetHot for some 2000 coating. Overkill, yea, I know. Had to take the VF39 heatshield bracket off because while removing the modified factory heatshield one of the bolts broke off! Gotta drill it out. I bought some stainless replacements and some copper anti-sieze so that shouldn't happen again. Also, not running my WB O2 right now either due to having to take it out to remove the APS shield. The heatshields should be delivered sometime this week. Woot. t This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | Dam am I having to crank down these wastegate duty cycles more than I thought with this spring installed. I'm down about 13% so far on the EBCS (which would be about 20% on the stock solenoid). Boost comes on line quicker for sure. If I can control it then this is gonna get 2 thumbs up. Also figured out a nice way to remap the RPMs column in the WGDC maps to get boost on a little faster. I'll report later after I do more testing on it. t |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | Getting pretty close to having this dialed in. I can get full boost a full 200rpms quicker with the 11.5lb spring. The spring also allows me to hold 15.5psi toward redline. IDCs are looking good. No need for the 19lb spring for me. The 11.5lb spring is working great. t |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | I wanted to post what this setup does with absolutely ZERO wastegate duty cycle. I dialed in 0 boost and 0 WGDC and went testing In 3rd gear I pull 16.5psi at 5200rpms and then it tapers to about 14.5psi around 6500rpms. In 4th gear I pull 17.5psi at 5200rpms. I didn't wind out 4th gear so I don't know what it tapers to. Yea, this spring is the perfect match for my setup. I'm loving it. Spoolup sucks with the solenoid out of the equation but it definitely pulls more boost than stock ... just not as high as with the solenoid in the equation. Great match. Here are some new pics of the spring with the heatshield on (JetHot 2000 coated). http://www.bescaredracing.com/sti/tu...g/DSC05241.JPG http://www.bescaredracing.com/sti/tu...g/DSC05242.JPG t Last edited by WolfPlayer; 11-02-2005 at 05:38 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I think this is a great mod. The only downside I see is the elevated natural wastegate boost levels. I was considering water injection and was thinking I could hook up the failure output to a relay to cut the boost solenoid. That would drop my boost if something went wrong with the water injection kit (low water level, clogged pump, etc.) |
