Default Question about ECU Memory Management

HI..

I have a question about how the ECU memory management works in relationship to Real-time and Base maps... here is the deal:

I loaded Tim's re-scaled base map in my ECU and needed to load the Realtime map afterwards to see the effect.

My understanding of ECU memory management is this: Base maps will remain in effect after an ECU reset and or Battery disconnect but Real-time maps will be lost after....

My question: What Real-time map will my ECU revert back to if I reset the ECU or disconnect the battery?

Thanks,

After a battery reset the ECU will revert back to a realtime map that is identical to the Base map. Notice that I said battery reset and not ECU reset. Huge difference. On an ECU reset the realtime map remains in effect.

The reason you have to load the realtime map after flashing the base map is SOLELY because Cobb doesn't replace the realtime map when flashing a new basemap on the STIs. It use to be that flashing a base map also gave you that basemap's realtime map. However, that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.

Another way to do this is to flash the new base map and do a Battery reset. This will cause the base map's realtime parameters to take over

I think I am still confused, can you confirm my understanding:

Considering that I:
  • Installed the re-scale map as the base
  • Then I tweaked the real-time Primary Fuel map
  • Then I saved the tweaked real-time Primary Fuel map as a base map
  • Then I reflashed the tweaked base maps
The ECU would then use the tweaked Primary Fuel map after a battery reset?

Thanks,

I too am wondering that ^^^^^. Some of the parameters are list as realtime and some as base. Say you save the entier map that you just made as a base map and load it intot he ecu. Which parameters are active? How about which ones are active after a battery reset?
Say I also load a realtime map, and there are base map parameters, same question.
