Default Experiments with WGDC (low) map

For the heck of it I tried reducing the WGDC (low) map in the mid/upper RPMs at WOT (80%) to 40%. I thought I would give this a quick try to see what would happen in the hopes of giving the ECU more room to expand in cases where boost creep might happen.

Long story short: No worky. Basically my WOT WGDCs dropped bigtime and I didn't hit target boost. You would think that if I went WOT a couple more times that it would begin to learn and increase enough to hit my target boost. Nope. Seems like it hits some type of upper boundary for the amount it can increase and then stops. I had 40% dialed in to the lower map and it was able to go up to about 60% ... even though the target was anywhere between 75%-95%.

Interesting. Very Interesting.
I was going to play with this area this weekend. Thanks for the update. I guess there is no need now.

Given my altitude, I seem to me more strictly bound to both the High and Low WGDC maps with a error built in due to the barometric correction map I can not see. This error is constant across the High and Low WGDC map, but each maps error is unique.

On spool up I use the High map to guide the WG. Right about when peak boost is met, I have to have a gentle switch over to the Low map (this happens automatically). This means I must have similar WGDCs @ ~3500 in both maps for a smooth transition. If this transition is not smooth, I will see a rapid drop in WGDCs and wont recover until higher RPMs. I don't believe the high and low is a window, it does not seem to work like that. Once I'm on the Low WGDC I use that to guide the boost curve. At this point it seems the High map is out of the equation, at least up here it is.

Does this sound like anything anyone else has seen?

I guess I will still play this weekend on this map. I am about 1,000 feet.

I increased the values in the WGDC (low) map at 4800/5200 about 10 points higher than the rest of the map, and only 10-15 points away from the corresponding values in the (high) map. It helped with building boost during a launch (I see 18+ psi in 1st) as well as regaining boost after shifting.

I usually keep the WGDC High table about 5-8% above the values in the WGDC Low table for the same corresponding RPM and TPS cells. The vehicle uses it as a window for tuning WGDC to hit the desired boost with the High tabled being the ceiling.
