IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (6) | Guys, I've been running a series of tests in order to determine how the knock correction maps work (A/B/C). So far, no conclusions. However, here is the data. I will add to this with more tests as I complete them. Total KA is the total Knock Advance applied at WOT when running the specified values listed in KC A, KC B, and KC C. Code: KC A KC B KC C Total KA 1 2 3 2 0 2 3 0 1 0 3 1 1 2 0 1 2 2 2 2 4 4 4 4 1 4 4 1 4 1 4 4 4 4 1 4 2 4 6 2 2 4 6 2 (this was with an ECU reset) 1 4 6 1 2 1 6 2 2 4 1 2 For the record, an ECU reset needs to be done before beginning these tests because I have found that the ECU will store knock retard amounts and apply them up to WEEKS later. I was getting 1.5 degrees always subtracted from 5000+ rpms. An ECU reset cured this. The total knock advance above (KA Total) is what was shown in Cobb's StreetTuner logs. These logs were obtained by doing 2 WOT runs for each test. These runs were done by doing one in 2-3 and one in 3-4. For example, the 1/2/3 test that produced a 2 degree knock advance was done by doing a WOT run starting off in second and ending at the top of third. I then kept the log running and did another run starting off in third and going to close to the top of 4th. I verified that the IAM was at 1.0 the entire time for any data above. I petition the StreetTuner community to help out in these tests and to either verify what I have done or to add new values above. Let's get some data to try to figure out how these tables work. Right now, the knock advance seems to follow KC A more than anything else. But, this doesn't explain why STOCK KC maps will often yield values of 6-9 when KC A only has 4 degrees up until 6000 in the high load sector (2.90) and 5 degrees up until 6000 in the 2.25-2.75 load sector. t This ad is not endorsed by this member. There's just so many things to do that this got put on the back burner due to figuring out how I wanted to tune for WOT. Now that WOT is taken care of ... I have been doing stuff like the EBCS tuning, the helper spring tuning, etc. However, I'd be willing to start it up again. I just think that if we do start it up again then we come up with a definitive action plan and a definitive course of action. t |
