Default Boost tuning info

I am planning a Deadbolt 20G for my 06 STI and allready have supporting mods: Walbro, injectors, exhaust, etc. I am using AcessTuner Race for tuning. Does anyone have sample wastegate duty cycle and target boost settings they could share as a starting point for tuning the boost on the 20G? I am planning to start with the stock boost control, although I plan to add either a Perrin or Prodrive boost control solenoid.

Thanks for any info!

I am planning to try to tune boost myself to start. I have allready added larger injectors and have done fuel tuning. I will eventually have a protune done, though.

I would imagine the duty cycles would depend on the spring size in your wastegate and whether or not your wastegate is ported... why not just start with the STG2 levels and go from there?

I will most likely do as you have suggested. I was just hoping to get a bit of guidance from others who have been through this. Particularly with regard to spoolup and overall drivability. I won't be running at WOT much.

I wouldnt do that. I run a fp green. The duty cycles on a stg 2 run around 70%. The duty cycles on the td06 20g will run in the low 60% range.

Thanks for this info!! I will start with lower duty cycles and tweak upward until I hit boost targets.

Anyone else have any boost tuning tips for the TD06 20G?

First set your boost targets. Then start with conservative wastegate duty cycles. I say start with about 45% and watch how much boost you hit, then adjust. Also adjust your max wastegate duty cycle so the ecu can reach your adjustments. You can adjust spool up boost with fueling but that is a little more difficult. It is better to start small and see the results than to over boost and blow something.

Thanks Bluedemon_II for your suggestions!

I am very interested in knowing what others are using for 20G boost targets. Either actual table values or a general description. Do you use the same target values across the entire RPM band for a given load? I plan to start with a boost target of 20 in the highest load column for at least part of the RPM range, then maybe work up to 22 while watching for knock. Is this reasonable? I may use a stage 2 map to start and smoothly increase the boost target values in the higher load columns.

As was said before this might not be a good idea. Depending on the spring the duty cycles for your new turbo may be lower than the stg2 map in which case you will over boost. I would start lower then work up.

I was asking only about boost target values. I will certainly start with low WG duty cycles and work up until I hit the target values.
