IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (5) | As many of you already know, I recently had my 04 STi up for sale. I had a serious buyer get to the point of purchase and the sale didn't go through due to his girlfriend talking him out of buying a second STi. I am going to throw it out there for this group a second time with hopes that someone will make a reasonable offer...otherwise I am off to the stealerships in the next couple of days to get a check for the car. I am the original owner and anyone who's been on the forums for more than a year can likely attest to my reputation for the proper care and modification of my 04 STi. Here's some detail about it taken from another ad I placed on a different website earlier: 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi- Over $14K in Mods!!! Original Owner I never thought I would put this incredible car up for sale, but we just purchased a new home and that has unfortunately changed my financial priorities. I purchased this World Rally Blue STi on June 11th, 2004. I am a fanatic about cars and especially the proper care of the cars I have owned over the years. I religiously followed the factory engine break-in period of 1,000 miles and changed the oil at 1,000 miles from regular oil to full synthetic and have not missed a single 3,000 mile interval since new (I change oil and filters in my garage on all my cars). As for reliability, I want to stress that the ONLY dealer service I have ever had since new was the replacement of the alternator under warranty at approximately 25K miles which would have only been a $400 service if I had to pay for it. Other than that minor issue, this car has not had one single problem that required a trip to the dealer...EVER. In fact, it idles as well as new due to a custom tune by the most reputable Subaru tuner and Subaru performance manufacturer in the country, Cobb Tuning (www.cobbtuning.com). Virtually every major area of performance on the car has been upgraded and many major modifications have been done in the last six months. I have easily invested in excess of $14,000 on this car on everything from suspension to interior, exterior and engine performance components, including a full turbo upgrade and all supporting items. Here is a summary of all of the standard features and upgrades that come to mind (I will probably miss something): Exterior Features and Upgrades -18 inch Prodrive PFF7 Wheels- European wheel set made specifically for the STi- $1,200 New (titanmotorsports.com) -Nearly brand new Toyo Proxes S4 Z-Rated High Performance All-Season Tires -Less than 1,000 miles-$1,100 (lesschwab.com) -Exterior Carbon Fiber Pillar Trim- $125 -Full Tint and Clearbra on Front Bumper ($550) -Factory lightweight aluminum hood with functional hood-scoop -Tinted Headlights (Blue) and Taillights (Charcoal)- $75 -Rotora Slotted/Cross Drilled Rotors on all 4-corners-Less than 4-months of use with new Brembo pads replaced at same time-$850 (rotora.com) -Factory Brembo Big Brake Kit -Cusco Rear Sway Bar- $225 (gruppe-s.com) -JDM Rear Brake Light Modification-Cleared Headlights with Factory HID -Prodrive Spring Kit made specifically for the STi- $280 (gruppe-s.com)-Only drops car 1 inch, but delivers much better cornering while reducing the pogo effect of the stock STi springs -Custom painted Greddy front lip $400 (gruppe-s.com) -Autospeed Bumper Trim and Aftermarket Grill/ I front emblem $100 Interior Features and Upgrades -DEFI BF Electroluminescent Gauges with DEFI Controller (Measure, record and playback all gauges including custom warning settings- Oil Temp, Boost and Water Temp in custom painted gauge pod) these gauges are nearly a factory match with the STi gauge cluster (both appear black when turned off and both perform a full red needle sweep when turned on-looks incredible!) $829 (gruppe-s.com) -Jensen Dual DIN Motorized DVD/TV/MP3/CD/XM Radio/ IPOD/Navigation ready stereo system- Full touch screen and SD card slot. I have had it custom configured to play DVDs while in motion. $800 -Rockford Fosgate 10 inch Sub/Enclosure with Dual Amplifier- $400 -Full Fat-Mat sound deadener/ vibration reducer in the entire trunk and in 50% of the seating area including doors- I never fully finished the interior, but still have enough Fatmat for the job to be completed (fatmat.com) $200 -Full interior red light modifications to match STi red instrument cluster -Blue perforated Alcantara seating with Factory MOMO steering wheel and Prodrive shift knob. -Custom black leather shifter and e-brake boots-red stitching to match STi steering wheel ($125) -Customer Subaru Technica International Door Sills and Full Interior Genuine Carbon Fiber trim on doorsills and dash areas $350 -Kartboy STi short shifter kit-$225 (kartboy.com) Engine Performance Features and Upgrades -Cobb ProTune- Includes Cobb Accessport ECU Engine Management System with the ability to flash custom performance maps on the fly to the factory ECU- completely undetectable by Subaru service instruments since the ECU can be set back to factory stock map. The dyno time, tune and Accessport cost over $1,250. (Safe tune at 17.5 PSi-Turbo can handle over 24PSi on a daily basis, but I chose safety over maximum power since the best Utah offers is 91 octane gas) This STi would easily dyno at over 350 wheel horse power -approximately 425 crank HP at sea level. -Deadbolt Enterprises TD06H-20G Water/Oil Cooled Turbo- ($1,750) No Turbo Timer Needed!) With lifetime rebuild guarantee! Again, proper break-in from day one and it is considered by many as the perfect street turbo for the STi since it retains near stock turbo spool and pulls much harder than a Stage 2 STi all the way to redline. -JECs/Nismo 740 CC Injectors-Replaced stockers at time of turbo upgrade- Cobb tuning considers the JECs/Nismos as the perfect idle STi injectors. $650 (mzmperformance.com) -Perrin Crank Pulley -Shaves over 5lbs of rotating mass off the crank! $135 and Perrin Radiator Hose Kit $149 (perrinperformance.com) -SS Autochrome Front Mount Intercooler with Stainless Steel Piping and all supporting couplers and flanges ($750) Core painted black for low profile -TurboXS Fully Adjustable Racing Bypass Valve $219 (turboxs.com) -Braille Automotive Lightweight Battery-11 lbs-Starts every time! $230 -STi replica front and rear strut tower bars -$125 -NGK Genuine Carbon Fiber Hood Dampers $175 -TurboXS RFL-Titanium 3 inch Turbo-Back Exhaust System with 4 inch Bell mouth- One of the most menacing STi exhausts out there- DEEP rumble! $1,179 -Injen Short Ram Air Intake with MAF inlet- sounds awesome!! $225 -Greddy Radiator Shroud and Prodrive Oil Cap - $175 The car has just over 49,900 miles on it and is sitting in my garage after a 4-hour detail job. It idles perfect, it runs perfect and is an absolute thrill ride. I commute over 60 miles round trip to work each day, so I would estimate that about 75-80% of the miles have been highway. In fact, the stock clutch is still going strong and I did not even replace the brake pads until 45k miles, so that should tell you something about me as a driver. Most STi owners replace the stock clutch before 30K miles and pads before 25K miles. The only flaws on this car are tiny paint imperfections from road debris on the front bumper/hood area (nothing you would not see on any other car with similar miles and not overly noticeable. I had the front bumper professionally repainted along with the Greddy Lip about 6 months ago and had Clearbra applied, which has really done a great job of protecting the bumper and it looks great!) I also began a project back in October of last year to replace all of the factory blue carpet with nice upgraded black carpet. The weather got cold and I have only been able to get half of the interior flooring sound proofed and the plan was to replace the carpet when all of the sound proofing was done. I got a quote for a custom carpet job and the price came in at around $350. This is pretty cheap to get a nice interior carpet and will be up to the new owner to have it replaced. Aesthetically, it is not a big deal. In fact, I have been driving it with half of the carpet out for months (drivers side) and no one has even commented on it. Finally, the Prodrive wheels have some curbing on each wheel. I want to stress that it was NOT from me...I traded a friend my factory forged 17 inch BBS wheels/tires for his 18 inch Prodrives. He had curbed them prior to me owning them and not one person has ever commented on the curb rash so it has never been a priority to me. They can be repaired at a nominal cost. So, there you have it...some minor aesthetic fixes most people will not even notice and over $14,000 in upgrades in one of the best looking and best handling STi's around. I am very willing to even allow the car to be inspected by any reputable mechanic prior to purchase at the buyers expense. On another note, the vehicle inspection and smog were done several months ago (after the turbo upgrade) and the car passed emissions with flying colors. The car will ony be available for sale to IWST members through Friday, when I will take it several dealerships and accept the best offer. I'll consider any reasonable offers. Thanks in advance. IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (5) | Any takers? I'd probably be willing to let it go for around $22,900. KBB Retail Value is just over $26K for a bone stock STi and Trade in Value is just over $20K, so I think this is more than a fair compromise considering what had been done to the car. |
