I would contact ARfab, and buy one of their oil pumps.

balance the assy to nuts on perfection, and possibly to the ej207 crank drilling. contact Ron at Axis and ask what he does to his cranks to mod them, for retiming the oil passages....

If you plan on turning the motor that fast, balance and blueprint during assembly is probably a good idea.

I made an inquiry to Howard at ARfab about extending the redline..he said that you will need to modify the heads oiling, upgraded valvetrain and also recommends upgrading cams to make power to higher rpm.

Personally I was told not to use DPR cams, there have been a few motor failures local to me from them. They are modified wrx cams from my understanding...

I was always told that DPR sourced custom grinds from crower.

I'll ask about the oil pump.... I'm trying to do this on a budget. But I guess you gotta pay to play right?

the cosworth pump offers marginal improvement over the stock pump. they make a point that the flow rate is unchanged. save your money. if you want to spend money on something meaningful, get an accusump.

you can probably do it but youre going to have the valvetrain maxed out at 8500 rpm. 78-8200 is more reasonable.

I'd be happy with 8k.... much better than the 7k I was revving before.

So I guess it's the valves themselves that are limiting me right now??

have you guys actually heard of valve damage/failure from overrevving?

i don't mean shim spitting/splitting from after or backfires...

i don't mean bottom end damage from lack of oil at high rpms...

i mean actual valve float/piston contact/etc, from overrevving.

My stock ej257 spun to 8500ish at least a dozen times... every time it was the same situation... shifting from 4th to 5th I'd get a grind in 5th, pause for a sec, try 5th a second time, and catch 3rd instead.

The heads and bearings were fine when the motor came apart.

Revving that high under load is another story though.

why not go with a smaller AR? like a .68??? Im using that on my supra and i get full boost at 3,500rpm instead of a .82 ar which would bring me above 4k. I know that you lose topend cause of the lower ar but ive noticed no weakness in the turbo at topend.

Or just get some Nitrous for spool up only that can give you more of a powerband.

Or just get a smaller turbo. reason why i ask this is because are you making 600+hp?? if not than theres no point of having that turbo on there.

my .02

WTF? I thought this thread was about revving to 8000+ RPM. Smaller A/R? Nitrous? That was pretty random

Anyway, I was pretty curious myself because I wouldn't mind being able to rev to 8k when the time comes to build my engine. So I guess there is no power to be had above 7k without any headwork and cams?
