Personally, I'd like to know a little bit more about their pistons, but that info is hard to come by; in that regard, they're a little bit like Cobb. Secretive.

I'd say Cobb is only like them by being secretive. Cosworth is Cosworth..Cobb is nothing like Cosworth.

Over the years, lots of Cosworth motors have grenaded, just like all the others, and Cobb has been building subie rally car engines for many years. No one on the planet builds a "perfect" motor - they all break eventually. You write the check, and roll the dice, period.

Personally, I don't much care for Cosworth's very short skirted piston; it's a recipe for high cylinder wear depending on how much clearance they use. But, we'll just have to see how they hold up...we'll know after a few of them get 40-50K miles on them. In the meantime, it's not even an educated prognostication, rather it's just a guess.

i plan on useing alot of there stuff on my build. going to go with there heads, maybe cams, oil pump, rod and main berings. all of that stuff looks god to me. now there pistins and rods seem alittle spendy for what they are. would love to have there crank but dont need it unless you rev to 8 or 8.5.

Speaking to Ron from Axis, he did not think they were flowing as much air as cosworth was advertising, being that they are based on USDM STi castings which are small port heads... similar to what the wrx has.

According to him and a few other shops I spoke to, worked bigport heads > worked USDM small port heads. In other words, the only way to do better than the Cosworth heads would be to get work done on JDM big port heads.

I got all of this info since i was getting an engine built through Ron. I was originally going to go with Cosworth for heads and then him for his stage 5 shortblock, but eventually decided to go with ported JDM version 8 heads, oversized valves, port and polish and stage 2 valvespring setup, and some aggressive high lift non-avcs cams on the block FTW
