Bruce, I really hate to see things like this happen. I feel as though I'm reading the "Esemes thread" all over again. I still don't understand why people on here feel that it is necessary to protect vendors when something bad happens to them. If something goes wrong and it is the vendors fault, then why not make it public, or at least refrain from referring other people to doing business with that company. I feel it is necessary to help eachother out, especially when it comes to bad business practices. Good luck with your current project, and please let us know if any other issues arise in the future.

i agree completely, which is exactly why the only thing we're missing now is a bobbehead theme song. i'm a very forgiving guy. as long as his mistake fit the definition of an honest mistake made during manufacturing, i was ok with providing some cover. when he manufactured the story to try to explain the obvious and he refused to move off his position, that's when it was fit to be news.

This thread is very entertaining. I'm really disappointed in most of the response's from crawford though. I would like to see some data from other crawford motors that have had the same issue's.

Crawford's response's to people bug me, I would have expected to see something more professional. No matter how irrate the customer becomes, or whether he is yelling, not at anytime should you fire back at them with rude remarks or smug comments.

Even if I was going to buy a Crawford built motor and had a 50-50 shot of it blowing up, I would probably head in another direction just because of the way this whole situation has been handled.

the only reason crawford went toe to toe is that i got under his skin. unless chris is as nutz at this point as quirt, chris most likely didn't know quirt was in here making an ass out of himself or he would dragged him away from the keyboard. quirt never has to do battle with his fleet of, what i call, crawford brownshirt killer bees. he usually just makes creepy soliticitous posts punctuated with a little smiley face while the killer bees assume attack duty. i was dealing with swarms of a half dozen incomings at a time over on nasioc. it's like sport.

Did you ever figure out what happened over on NASIOC with the sudden thread move? That really came off fishy for sure.

Those smileys after every post bug the heck out of me. They seem to have spread to the responses of all the I-speed crew as well. There's a time and a place for smileys, and the end of every response isn't the place for them.

if by 'figured out' you mean, i've got a good idea about what happened; yes. can i prove it? nope.

btw, i loved the way the mods moved the "bobblehead moved" thread to "off topic". they did it so i could be swarmed even harder by the brownshirts because they were pissed off that i challenged their veracity for moving the original bobblehead to the basement. it's kind of like in football where you stand or hold the guy up so he will get impaled by a teammate. their only problem was, none of the brownshirts had enough fight (or talent) left in them to take that free shot.

all in all and despite my above comments, i feel i was very well treated on nasioc and, without question, here. i was given a fairly long leash on both forums. the biggest benificiary was the subaru community and that's the way it should be.

Funny how the customer has to be the one who offers to 'bury the hatchet'. One question tho, if your out $2600 + the actual cost of the engine, why not just take it to court to recover your losses and move on? I started reading this on page 10, and please foregive me if I missed something monumental in the first 10 pages.

my damages are actually 5.2k (for the motor) not including consequential damages which add another 3k. speaking theoretically, to understand why i didn't pursue legal remedy:
  1. you'd have to know the extend of the current complex litigation i'm involved in. in a nutshell, i can't be bothered.
  2. you have to file a small claim in the defendant's jurisdiction, in this theoretical case, ca.
  3. the case would have to be brought in ny state superior court, where i would have jurisdiction and where he (theoretically) would have to come to defend or else forfeit. however, the hassle factor increases exponentially with a "real" i.e., not small claims case (back to reason #1)
what happened to the days when two men just beat the crap out of eachother like, well, real men.
