| Amateur STI Driver Feedback Score: 0 reviews | I had a lot of problems with my car after about 10,000 miles with the oil, my car was burning oil like crazy. i was putting in about a quart every two days. and i was not driving it hard. at 30000 miles driving back from the shore my motor seized up on me. i had Subaru tow it to reedman toll were i got the car and they said it ran low on oil. since i had problems from before Subaru had no choice but to fix it. when i picked up my car i had to sign a paper saying that they only fixed it because i they felt bad. really it said that. and now only 6 months later my oil pump stopped working when i was driving on i 95, they towed it back up to Subaru and 2 months later they said there was nothing they could do. i got in touch with lemon law but all they could was get me 2500 dollars about the problem. they brought my car back to my house with the motor in a million pieces. so now it was up to me to get it fixed. i never did any mods to my car before now. the body only has 33000 miles on it and i had the car since new. i paid cash and got the price from 38000, which they were trying to get to 34000. I am about 6000 dollars into this motor and i hope it does not blow up again. here is my car with about 5,000 miles on it this is the motor that came with my car. It had a problem from the start and Subaru could never tell me why. So when i blew they fixed it only cause i had problems before. the second motor Subaru replaced. Here is my car when Subaru dropped it off back at my house, with my motor in boxes. Here is my new block that i got from import image racing. And my heads. i didn't buy new ones i just had them cleaned up and got new valves and springs. Here are my heads that i had cleaned up and had the slack adjusters put back on and had the valves and springs put in. I got unequal length headers and a bellmouth down pipe. The exhaust that i got for my car. putting in the new oil pan and oil pickup. Here i put on my ARP head studs, when i put the moly lube on the nuts and washers, i put the washers in a zip lock bag and then put the moly lube in the bag and got the washers coverd in the lube. once i put the heads studs in by hand i put the head gasket on and then the head. then i put the washers on and the i took the nut and put some more molly lube were the nut comes in contact with the washer. then i tightend them in three equal steps, i did 25, 50 and then 85. the sequence that you tighten them is in the picture below. the head studs do not go into a water jacket so sealent is not needed. next i put the camshafts in followed by everything else. make sure you use alot of assembly lube, the pictures dont show i did but i went back and put alot, all the parts that could be stressed when the motor is first started. then i put in the one step colder spark plugs And here is the head when iam done with all the parts Last edited by my07sti; 07-19-2009 at 09:28 AM.. |
