Default 370 Whp and 420 TQ

370 whp and 420 tq is what Im currently running on a stock blow with stock internals on my balls to the wall map . I want this to be my daily map . The question is how crazy do I need to go with my build to make this reliable . I have about 5000 to 6000 dollars to make this happen . My builder says to go all the way but that is 9000 dollars and dont have that kind of money . So some opions on what I should do would be appreciated .

Forged pistons and new bearings and call it a day?

You don't need rods or valvetrain work at 370whp imo unless you plan on going bigger later and want some insurance.

I wouldn't even open the motor...the right turbo and meth and 400whp on the stock bottom end should be no problem at all.

Also, you probably won't like what cosworth cams will do to your powerband on the stock turbo. I still don't know if I am glad I put cams in my car or not. Lost a solid 300-500rpm of spool up.

^^^^ Like has been said your fine, I am at 430WHP and on a agressive tune and I have no worries. Its all in the tune and timing.. When I go to my goal of 475-500WHP then I will throw some Pistons and Rings some bearing and a new oil pump and call it a day..

Good luck with the stock block at that power level. A few large detonation events will take the ring lands out quickly. No tune can avoid DET completely. Once you are into the 400 WHP range, you have gone past the point of stock reliability, no matter how good the tune is (but it seems like you are prepared for that).

The first thing I would do to any new age 2.5LT is to replace the pistons with forged ones. If the block has a good amount of miles on it, I would get it bored and honed, replace the bearings, then drop in 100mm pistons. then you could run the stock turbo (or bigger) all day long and not have to worry about the pistons.

It all depends you know, like my buddy has ran a SZ49 then a DOM 3 on a 07 all stock motor very aggressive he made 460WHP with the SZ49 with Meth and 450WHP DOM 3 with Meth aswell as the occasional 25-30psi boost on the DOM 3 at the track and he had 20K+ miles no probs.. He was my tuner but now he got hired by COBB so I need a new tuner... But yeah Pistons very good idea...

The point is that yea it will hold up for a certain amount of time, but eventually you are simply fighting physics. The weak point in the motor is the pistons. Those will go first. On pistons that are under-stressed, they will wear out the rings first and last a long time. That is the difference. Now when you get into the area that requires forged pistons, there are other failure points in the engine. Typically it will throw a rod, spin a bearing, etc as a failure point instead.

How is the top-end with cams? Is this on a stock motor? What are your mods?

Yup exactly... Thats why I am in the process on doing Wiseco Pistons, Manley Rods, ACL Race Bearings, Studs etc etc and probably a 08 STI pump which has a higher flow its a 11mm pump.. I would like a bigger pan but its tuff on the 06 with Aftermarket headers not sure if any of the pans out there will work.. But thats my motor build for now I dont think sleeving is the way to go for my setup at this point..
