Default Magnus 2.8L stroker kit

Is anyone using this? I have searched here and on nasioc.com with no results. I am trying to get more information on it as far as durability. I know any shop/manufacturer is going to just tell me that their product is the best. If anyone uses this kit, or knows someone that does/has please post or pm me.
James

I would reconsider. Never had any dealing with them but have heard of not too favorible result. IMHO, I would put my $ with Innovative Tunning in Buffalo area.

I checked out Innovative Tuning's website, and couldn't find a stroker kit/built stroker motor. The reason I am asking about the magnus in particular is that is the only kit I have found that bumps displacement to 2.8L. All of the other kits are 2.7ish.

howard may disagree with me but, i have come to the conclusion that subaru knows better when it comes to bore and stroke. keep it simple stupid and get a race motor built around a stock block and crank and built within tolerances that make sense.

a local here in jax (aka the panda sti) had a 2.75 liter stroker... he could only turn the car to around 7k...

i dont know about you guys, but i want a built motor that screams to 8k+ rpms

Naaa..... Im not going to disagree with that statement.

Im not an advocate of stroking any turbo engines. We had a large learning curve 4 years ago with tall deck Honda DART engines with long rods. When we did the Subaru BC 83mm stroker crank I knew that the RPM was going to be an issue but did it for the sake of the people...

These engines already have a short piston skirt for there diameter...when you put the 83mm crank in the block the skirts go well below the sleeve leaving the pistons with alot less skirt support. Not a good idea for a long lasting build.

Still there are people who use the stroker setup with the limited RPM for its super low end torque...top end power will be the sacrifice though. And I wouldnt use a turbo larger then a GT32 either. My Opinion.

Your goal is whats going to dictate whether or not you should use the stroker setup. If you would like to discuss that with either Mike @ Innovative or Myself just send either of us a PM!

K.I.S.S Method is always the way to go for people on a budget.

Building a "race" motor built around a stock block, crank and built within tolerances that make sense is just a stock engine with forged rods and pistons though. Not a race engine. A race engine has tolerances and parts that are well thought out for the type of racing. There is nothing simple or stupid about that.

Ya know, it'd be pretty interesting to tear apart one of their factory rally engines - there might not be a single "shelf" item in the engine, bare block included.

I understand where he (she?) is coming from, however. You have to be willing (and have the coin) to destroy lots of builds on the path to getting the final unit to build a top level, dedicated racing powerplant -and then, have the coin to keep on doing it, year after year. But, let's face it: we're talking "bleeding edge" motors that will never, ever, see the engine bay of a street car.

Don't worry, amigo. With the exception of the very top cars, in the most select and competitive forms of racing, most people (and 100% of privateers) are doing pretty much what you are; taking a stock engine, putting in a few critical parts, and then building it very carefully. And they have a helluva lot of fun with those powerplants too.

This, without a doubt, is the best way to go. IMHO, a stroked Suby engine is just trouble waiting to happen.
