We used carillo rods in our top sportsmen corvette. i've never seen one break. they've been bent to all hell but never broke. strong rods 4 sure. highly recommended. pricey but strong.

I will be going with Manley I-beam Turbo Tuff rods. I recall Tim Bailey telling me he has seen Pauter rods break.

I could see pauter rods eating bearings at best because they are heavy!!

I use pauter or groden's for all my builds. The featherweight Groden's ONLY go in race motors though

Manley makes a great rod but my issue is their custom rods are too pricey. Not nearly as bad as Carrillo's price tag though.

I don't believe you.

j/k.

stock ones are hard enough to break....let alone the Pauters. (or really any aftermarket rod). Hello big power when you break a Pauter. lolz

I want to see pics of a broken pauter rod. I have seen pics of a severely grenaded motor where the only recognizable pieces were the pauter rods.

note that the rod isn't "broken" there (yes deformed and cracked at the pin end)....notice everything else is destroyed?

The rod wasn't the original failure in that motor. Or at least by that picture.

Also looking at the rod bolt, was that a porsche or air cooled VW?

what's the weight on that guy? definately looks beefy.

I'm still trying to decide on my next set of rods as my TRUE long rod Pauters are over 600 grams

Then again my 2618 4" bore JE pistons are only 410 grams
