IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | Just got my Motive brake bleeder and wanted to double check that I do everything correctly as per the directions. It then states to make sure that the resovior cap is filled.. Then states to hook it up and pump 10psi into the empty container to verify NO leaks in the current hoses... If that is fine then proceed to next steps... Then it says to uncrew the main cap and fill up to 2 qts of fluid into the tank, and not to exceed 20psi..etc. I know for us it's about 10psi to pump it till... My main questions... if I am filling 1 qt of brake fluid in the tank there is going to be air obiviously since the entire thing is not filled up.... How does the fluid get sucked up and not the air? That is really the only part I am getting stumped about... Thanks, -Nigel This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2004 Trader Rating: (1) | Might want to post it in the right section. I use the power bleeder a little differently. I make sure the resevoir is topped off at all times, but I don't put any fluid into the bleeder it self. As long as you don't let the fluid level in the resevoir drop too much, you won't introduce any air into the system. Only downside is that you have uncap the bleeder from the resevoir few times to fill it up during the whole process. That's how we did it on the Cup cars to bleed brakes and clutch. I've used the same method to completely flush the system and bleed it several times. After two track events, no problems. AND the power bleeder is as clean as the day I bought it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | Is it better then to turn the container over so that the exit hose that sucks the fluid is sideways rather than vertical? Like this: Think of the boat shoe as the brake resiovour... Vertical: ![]() Horiztontal: ![]() Thanks, -Nigel |

Hmm... that is actually pretty good! When you mean topped off do you mean completly filled to the FULL line or to the BRIM of the resevoir.... I think I am actually going to do it your way! -Nigel | |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (6) | dude the picture of the shoe is amazing... I have the power bleeder and I have never had any success with it and get air leaks in the middle of bleeding the brakes and loose all the pressure... I now have speed bleeders which btw cost the same as that stupid thing and make my brakes 100,000 times firmer and extremely easy to bleed. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | yeah, i just used my power bleeder this week and had no problems, maybe you're unscrewing your bleed screws too far and introducing air at the threads? I did a full flush including ABS and the brakes are rock solid again. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | once you get air in the system (i.e. accidentally let the resevoir run dry), is there any way to get it out? Will re-bleeding it get the bubbles out? |
