IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | Is this a good Brake bleeder kit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motiv...WDVWQQtcZphoto I am going to get one so I can bleed my brakes soon and get rid of that squishy feeling.... I have used one VERY similar to that so I am kind of familar with how to use it... only I don't remember is the size of the bolt that is ontop of our calipers... what size wrench is needed or specific tool for the brembos? IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | EDIT: The above link was also for domisetic cars... which I don't have nor drive... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget That is for imports and actually cheaper... Seems like the above is what I actually need... EDIT one last time...lol This one is even cheaper than the above and states that it comes with the 1101 round fluid resvoir adaptor whhich is the same one that the import one is coming with.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._promot_widget Now I am confused... which one do you guys recommend? IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | FYI I have the Motive Power Bleeder with the three prong cap (model #0107). It fits perfectly on the STI's brake fluid reservoir. I heard the universal model (with chain) is a pain to use. Last edited by SubyFi; 05-22-2007 at 11:28 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Please tell me you looked in the How-To section. I can think of two threads on brake maintenance in recent memory, one by Rev and one by hspn with videos. IIRC it's an 11mm wrench. |

I went actually directly on their site and saw that they do want you to use the 3 prong! Thank you both for pointing that out. http://www.trackhaus.com/power-bleed...cap-p-290.html That's the correct adaptor that I need... w00t w00t! -Nigel

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | we aim to please. What fluid are you putting in? Report back on the feel of the bled system. FYI some people are not in favor of pressure bleeding because they feel it drives more water into the fluid. Personally at 15psi for such a short duration, I'm not too worried. I'll just flush more regularly if it really is a problem. |

Using ATE Super Blue again... I did this last year when I installed s/s lines and the brakes still felt mushy.... So I am finally getting around to it to bleed them using the above system. How would it drive more water into the system or even put water in the system if you filling it up with brake fluid... Here is one last question. Since I did this last year with a friend we used a simialr product above... we did it so that when we were draining the lines that instead of hte clearish/yellow fluid that subaru puts in it would drain blue... Since I already have BLUE fluid in there what am I doing...lol If that makes sense at all... Do I just bleed it and make sure there are no air bubbles in there or complelty FLUSHING the system, then adding fluid? -Nigel

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | you pressurize the powerbleeder with atmospheric air which contains water. So you have pressurized air pushing down on the fluid you're driving. Some people don't think this is ideal. You end up flushing the system when you bleed. you always want to drive the air out of the system, not just flush. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | Ok so I ordered it and should have it in a week... Have some questions real quick to refresh my mind... Do you fill the canister up with brake fluid, put the adaptor on our fluid resvoir and then pump to appropreate PSI... then proceed to the brakes and open the bolts slightly... But before this do you push the brake pedal until it's super firm? I keep reading that you should engage the ABS.. but how do you do this if the car is jacked up? It will be only myself doing this...so I am not going to have someone pump the brake as I am using the above link to bleed the brakes.. Thanks, -Nigel |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Dude, one of the main points of pressure bleeding is to not have to build pressure in the system by pumping the brake pedal. You're scaring me again. And where do you keep reading that you have to engage ABS? That's for when you pull the bonehead move and run the reservoir dry, letting air into your system. OR if you absolutely cannot get the pedal feel firm and you've tried bleeding. It's possible it got a crappy bleed at some point and has air trapped. As for engaging it, just what do you think happens to the brakes when you have all 4 wheels up in the air and you mash the brake pedal? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2006 Trader Rating: (1) | You need to activate the ABS system if you want to change the fluid to something else or it is really, really, 100k+ old. They way I did it when I put ATE blue in my car was just changing the entire system and than going onto a sandy parking lot where I did a few ABS runs for 4-5minutes. Than I went back home and bled the system again for a bit. This will make sure you will have the new fluid in the ABS module as well. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Good call, i never considered the long term or fully flushing the system. With the power bleeder, re-bleeding after triggering ABS should be a breeze for you Nigel. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | I know... I ask a lot of questions, but I would rather get the right answer here or advice/tricks rather than coming across something that I didn't expect while doing the swap... then be lost until I get an answer after the fact that the action was done...etc I know I am probably making a bigger deal out of it... I did change the lines a year ago to s/s and we redid all new fluid... this time around I am sticking with the same fluid and just bleeding it I guess or seeing if there are any air bubbles in there... -Nigel This ad is not endorsed by this member.
