Default Brembos in rain

After driving my new 06 in the rain a couple times I noticed a pretty scarry occurence, and it seems to have got worse over time. Whenever it rains hard and the breaks get wet they are unresponsive for a good 1-2 seconds of break pressure. This scared the **** out of me first time it happend but have gotten used to it and make sure I "pre-break" in rainy weather. Is this a normal occurence with the stock brembos or should i have them checked out? Thanks!

I never experienced that much delay, maybe a little loss in power. But not delay.

Yes this is common, especially after highway driving in heavy rain
and after a good car wash. It also happened to me after doing
donuts in heavy snow. I think they need some time to warm up
a little before they are good to go.

Ditto felt the same thing. You hit the brakes and you feel it slow down but not like a dry weather slow down then all of a sudden they come back. Probably just a combo of water on the brakes and being very cool to. I am sure they need a little heat to work at their best.

Again, its normal. Think of it like this: Can you grip something when it's wet? Not really as well as you could when it's dry. Why don' you drive 100 mph in pouring rain? Because the tires don't make contact with pavement or surface, so there's nothing there. Same with brakes, that contact has nothing, it's just slipping until it wears through the water. Go easy in the rain. When I'm in the rain I'll pump my brake pedal once in a while, and when I see a red light I brake alot sooner.

+1 To having it happen. Have to watch it after washing the car.

i've always done this with cars when cruising on the hwy for a while in the rain. use my left foot to lightly drag the brakes for 2 second or so every now and then. especially when coming up to a slow down, or an offramp.

Happened to me before as well. I had crossdrilled rotors in an older car and it helps. I'm told not to buy cross drilled unless cast that way though. I may go with slotted when I change my stockers out.

Heavy rain/deep water can be a problem for all vehicles. That's why it's important to pump the brakes after going through a deep puddle to make sure the brakes are ready to be used in an emergency.

BMW and VW have introduced on some of their cars rain/water sensors on their brakes so that when it rains the pads automatically "kiss" the rotors at regular intervals to keep them at maximum effectiveness.
