Default Hawk HPS squeaking and squealing problems????!!

Hey crew, i did my brakes a couple weeks back. I went with the Hawk HPS. First, i noticed when i recieved them, they didnt come with any of that grease stuff. I said ok, replaced them, I used both shims up front with no grease when i installed them. I than took the car out and bed them. Not sure how many times i was suppose to stop hard on them but i did it quite a few times. I noticed that whenever i was in traffic an coming to a stop, the brakes would make a loud squealing noise (Very Annoying!!). I left it liek that for about 3-4 weeks thinking that it might just go away. Wrong, it didnt, i finally got so aggravated that i took the pads all apart again an reinstalled them, but just with one shim, the smallest one. This time around i bought some CRC Disc Brake quiet (red stuff) and applied it to the pad, than the shim, than the back of the shim where the piston from the caliper pushes. took the car out, I noticed at first its very quiet, but as soon as the brakes heat up , the squealing is still horribly loud. I've been reading alot about this on the forum but everyoen says that the squealign will jsut go away after time, Any suggestions??? i really hate the squealing and i don't know wether to switch pads or what. thanks guys!

Lube the backs. Best lube we've found to date is a high temp anti-seize.

Once you've done that get them good and hot on a break in.

mine only squeek after the really really warm up, but with normal daily driving braking... they dont squeek. i just assumed that this was a common thing with HPS's from what ive read on the forum here.

My Hawk HPS are the same way! i did the same as you. Installed first with shims, they squeaked, so I took them out and put the CRC Disc Brake quiet (red stuff) on the back of the pads, with no shim. they were quiet for 10 miles and now squeak really bad.

I didnt bed them in again after I took them out and put them back in though... should I?

This is really pissing me off, I hate these pads

how do you make em stop squealing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once you get more miles on them they will stop. Mine were loud for about the duration of an oil change. Just smile and wave at people that look at you when you come to a slow stop and the brakes squeek.

im just going to live with it for about another 2 weeks that im going to get the pagid blues ,with SS lines and different fluid. i hear they make some noise but it is worth the trade for their performance. And i guess the HPS's annoy me cause the time at the track they heated up and faded really really quick when the stocks lasted longer than what i expected.

Yes...take out the stock shims. Ive been running for a while on mine with no squeeks, noises, anything...do yourself a favor and toss the stock shims.
