Lightbulb Do your Brembos squeal?

I just purchased an 04 sti with 30k from a small dealer last week. When I test drove the car the brakes were squealing like crazy... and the salesman told me the car had been sitting for a while and just needed to be driven a little. So I took the car out again for another drive and this time th noise was gone.

But now after diving the car back and forth to work everyday for a week the brakes are making a light squeal again in parking lots and at traffic lights.
I called the dealer up and told them about it and the manager told mr that the brakes are brembos and all brembos do that. This cant be true.....Do your Brembos squeal?

brake pads are semi metallic pads, they are gonna squeek a little, theres friction, its gonna happen. just turn ur radio up or intall an exhaust

I'll sacrifice a little brake squeek to have excellent bra-popping stoping power.

I wouldnt say the "brembo's" do it as that kind of hints that the calipers themselves are the culprit. It is the pads you are using in them.

The more adherence and abrasive friction your pads can generate, the more they'll squeel. Especially at low temps. Basically, pads with a lot of bite/stopping power squeel like crazy.

Ive used pads that squeal like crazy at any speed unless they've been heated by repeated stops on a track.

Change out the pads for a quiet ride. There are several options that basically will never sqeal, maybe every so often when you are backing up and stopping but still provide very adequate bite for street use.

Look into:

Cobb Street Pads
Porterfield R4S
Satisfied OEM pads off tirerack

Ive used all three and all were silent.

There are probably a lot of others, but ive personally tried those with successful results.

Pads Ive had squeal like crazy are:

Porterfield R4
Cobb Track (still pretty quiet though)
Pagid Blue <--worst of them all for noise, awesome stopping power though.

Congrats on the new car though, you'll learn a lot through this site asking questions just like you did. Searching yields a lot of help to but it can get frustrating skimming through threads for an answer.

There must be more squealing with after-market pads than the stock ones?

Mine only do that after it's been parked for a while after a wash/rain. It disappears after the first brake application and doesn't make a sound after that.
