We are running Carbotech Panther+ on the OTC car right now, and the Bobcat compound they sell on the blue car. Both pads work extremly well compared to the stock pads. When I drove the OTC car I had to readjust my braking zones even on street driving, I managed to stop like 100 feet from light, compared to where my stock STi (black) would have stopped right at the light with that much pressure on the pedal.

I had the Porterfields R4S' and they wore out in one weekend at a track event.

Might be a good daily pad but not that great for a track with hard braking zones.

i called the guys at carbotech, seemed very knowledgable, we discussed the laws of inertia and momentium with these pads it was a long discussion, but my point is that he recommended the 1106's for autocrossing and lap times for practice runs.....there pretty expensive pads if you are to get all the way around....

but do you think shanen its a good deal putting these on the stock rotors?

I would have to say its a good deal even with the stock rotors. Stock rotors from subaru are running about $700 a pair for the front which is rather pricey. The stoptech guys are in the process of making some replacement rotors with aluminum hats, but they had no idea when they would be for sell to the public. We just found another vendor that is selling us some front rotor replacements with aluminum hats for about $700 but I can not remember the name of the place at the moment. I personally really like the idea of aluminum hat rotors since you will loose some unsprung weight.

I am going to order a set of Bobcats for the street for my STi. I have order of Panther+ and Bobcats for my Miata which should be here any day. At this point I just want anything better then stock, trying to stop in my STi like I do in my miata is never successfull.

I think $700 is on the high side for 2-piece rotors with aluminum hats. My preference is the DBA 5000-series rotors for that application, which go for $600-650 on the market at this time.

Yeah both are expensive. The fact that some aluminum hat rotors are the same price as a paid of rotors off of subaru parts.com I would opt for the 2 piece to loose the un sprung weight. Rotors are a high price item on this car right now from what I have seen and unfortuantly it is a wear item that you are going to have to replace on the car if you track it alot. No one said playing with cars was cheap though

I've heard that the Carbotech pads produce less dust but have not used them *yet*. I plan on using them when my stock pads run out.

Cut to the chase!! Who has the best Price on a good all around set of pads. I am, and have allways been, easy on brakes. This $200+ for a set of brake pads is B.S.
I have almost 24k mi. on my STI, and the pads are worn about 75%. 2 track days and 1 AutoX. Yes your right "I am Cheap", but this is my work car, and I dont need ceramics!! Jerry C

I ran the Carbotech Bobcat pads this last weekend at a road course. The pads lasted 4 15 minute sessions before they were down to the rivets.
Grippy, Yes. Good when hot, NO!!
Recommend buying, NO.
I have used Carbotech in the past for my Datsun 510 ITC race car and have been very happy with their full race compounds on stock rotors.
I have not tried the Panthers so I can't give an opinion of them.

Shane, it looks like you will be the only STI in OTC as my car got wacked on the track yesterday at Buttonwillow. Be sure to buy extra pads for OTC or at least bring your stockers as back ups.

What made you think that a Bobcat STREET compound was applicable to track use? Didn't you talk to Matt or Larry beforehand? I smeared Panther XPs all over my StopTech rotors like wet poop in the porker I used to track. I went to Hawk HT-10s next and never looked back.
