IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (1) | I'm coming from the Vette world where we needed to use header wrap to cover the tie-rod ends. The brake rotors, being so close to the rod-ends, would melt the rubber booties on the rod ends. Header wrap would eliminate this damage. I know a popular mod to the brakes, on the STI, is to remove the inner rotor shields to help shed some rotor heat. My concern, after looking the the hardparts, is that the rod ends are very close to the rotor. Have you track-addicts found any melting/hardening of the rubber booties on the rod ends? I'm thinking that cutting the shield to expose most of the rotor would help with heat, but leaving some shield where the rod ends are close. Thoughts? IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2004 Trader Rating: (14) | I haven't had any problems after lots of track use, but I also have had an RCE kool brake kit installed ever since I removed my dust shields. This is a mod I would recommend anyways though if you are tracking the car a lot. |

I've already spoken with Myles on plan...KoolBrake kit is going on with lines and Motul before my March date at Limerock!!! I just need to figure out the pads... Really though, no issues with the rubber being so close to the rod ends?... that's good news. Thanks, TomK | |
