| Junior STI Driver | I just installed front and rear Hawk HPS pads and re-surfaced my front rotors. I am a service advisor for Acura, and paid one of my techs to install them for me (I wanted to do it myself as it is quite easy but just did not have time). afterwards when I drive the car the brakes don't feel like they bite nearly as good as the stocks. I had the same pads on my 6mt G36 coupe w/brembos and they were great. I have already put about 100 miles on them, do they need to break in with a little more wear? IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | Remember brake fluid will deteriorate over time - go ahead and get some ate superblue (its a worthwhile under 20 dollar investment) and change the fluid. If you are feeling adventurous get some goodridge ss lines to really firm up the feel. However, if you don't want to invest in all, just bleed the lines with new fluid and then bed the pads in properly. It will make a huge difference. |

| Authorized Vendor | fluid bleeding is the most overlooked service on a car If you have more than 15k miles or more than a year on stock fluid, bleed it. Brake fluid is hygroscopic (meaning it retains water over time). You know how your wife/gf acts when she retains water? Same overall effects ![]() Bedding - crucial to getting good pad feel and life. You can rebed through the life of a pad. Cutting rotors - be careful!!!!!! Stock rotors don't have alot of margin for thickness. If you cut them down to minimum specs, expect to be changing rotors soon. |
