IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (8) | I've been doing several of these so I thought I'd document it. Overall it's pretty easy but you do need 1 somewhat special tool - a micro-torque wrench. First -I'll admit that the drilled rotors are pretty hot but I needed slotted only so I had to swap hats. So put that bling in a vice w/ some cardboard to protect it. ![]() Unbolt the hat ![]() Check out my deformed nuts ![]() They are smashed out of round slightly to lock w/out loctite. 1 time use only though. ![]() Get the new slotted ring in the vice and ready w/ the bolts - (re-usable) ![]() You need a sensitive torque wrench for this small hardware - 15NM is the spec (about 11 ft-lbs if I can multiply correctly anymore) The small one has a range of 25-250 in-lbs so it's perfect ![]() Snug the nuts and then torque to spec in a criss-cross pattern and you are done. I did a few sets in no time. ![]() This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | ken - nice write up - those rotors look oddly familiar =) oh and hope the vendor status is going well. To anyone, including sirwilliam, who wants the 2 piece rotors up front go with ken. \ and that yellow is definitely more gold than i would have guessed - looks sweet. still love my blue hats though. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (8) | they are definitely not cheap - i keep balking at putting the Brembo's on my wagon partly due to cost - partly due to all that weight... My car feels way different than my friends STi - 10 lbs a corner will likely do that. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | not cheap but worth it - i don't if ken got the weight differences between the stock sti rotor and the 2 piece ones, but there is definitely some. And now, when i need knew rotors, i only need the surface and not the hub. Also they look way way sweet. I definitely felt a difference in turn in when I put these on, like the weight on the front end was much less. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | I'm pretty sure its not that much - the shipping weight w/ packaging for the 2 piece dba fronts and 1 piece slotted rears was mid 70's. Without the packaging, I would guess around 70-72 pounds. The stock sti rotor is approx 22 front and 18 rear. That makes it eighty. Assuming the rear slotteds are about the same weight, that about 4 maybe 5 pounds for each of the front ones - but of course I didn't actually weigh anything so that all could be way off.... ken might know and hopefully he'll inform us of the exact weight of the dba's =) |

As far as weight reduction - on my really crappy scale the 1 piece DBA's weigh about 22 lbs - the 2 piece are about 19 so we'll say 3 lbs +/- my awful scale accuracy. That makes sense and I like it as the plate thickness etc is the same so you aren't losing heat mass etc. -ken | |
