As long as your rotors are not slotted or drilled [shivers] - these do not dust bad at all and they are consistent from cold to as hot as you can get them just about and still use them on the street.

Support your favorite imrezawrxsti.com vendor. FT from selgp recommends Porterfield R4S for street/autox. See:

http://www.selgp.biz/index.asp?PageA...ATS&Category=3

Just a satisfied selgp customer, still on OEM pads...

well you should be rotating your tires about every oil change, and while u have the tires off, just look at the pads.. when they are worn, change them.. or once you start hearing the squeaker you will know

Hey Robert, I had been reading the Carbotech site before; I'm currently shopping for pads also. I'm leaning towards a certain brand. Regardless..
I called these guys and asked them the same question. One of the sales reps told me the Bobcat 1521 is best at low noise and dusting. He also proceeded to tell me these pads would outperform the stock ones.
I believe him when he says, Bobcat 1521 is their best low noise and dustless pad. I have no experience with this brand. I can't honestly say how they would perform. I have previously used Porterfield on other vehicles.
I was very satisfied.
Does anyone have experience with Carbotech pads?

I found this to be most helpful on the Carbotech site:
"Carbotech Bobcat (1521) :
For 2003, Carbotech introduces Bobcat (1521), the much anticipated replacement for our heralded Super Street F. Like our Panther line of compounds, Bobcat is a ceramic based friction material offering practically zero rotor damage. Bobcat offers outstanding performance when cold, very low dusting, and low noise with an excellent initial bite. Friction coefficient is .5-.55 over it’s operating range of ambient temp to 900F. Bobcat is suitable for street, SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo applications."

I certainly could use some help picking a street pad that will see laps at LimeRock and NHIS about 4 times this year.

Default Customer service...

Slowride, thank you very much for your kind words.

Carbotechs and Feredos are certainly good pads, I still prefer Porterfield R4S for street of course. However more importantly, if you hitting the track ~4 times a year, you have to have track pads, at least for the fronts. None of the street pads will last beyond a single event at the track; you finish the event but you'll eat up roughly 70-80% of the pad.

For track I would recommend Porterfield R4 or Hawk Blue pads. Also Performance Friction 01 or 03 compounds are top of the line, but they also eat up the rotors a little more There is always a darn compromise

Default Re: Cracked Windshield!

I will agree that the R4S will only last one track event.

I wore both inner front pads to the backing plates this past weekend at lil Talladega. If I would have know they were that soft, I'd have gotten the Hawk Blues in the first place. They stopped great on the street and the one auto-x I did tho.

I'm back to OEM for now......

Thanks FT! I was thinking there was going to be a need for a couple sets of pads. I thought, just maybe, I would get away with one set of pads for this summer. I'm still a Noob at the track, so I don't push the car like some of the more experienced guys do. I tend to brake a little earlier. Obviously with this car, I want to improve on that this year. I will probably try out the Carbotech pads for the street, and purchase a track pad like the Porterfield R4. I hope to build confidence at the track with this car, I just don't have money to toss around so I tend to lean on the side of caution. It will be fun to chase Z06's M3's and Porches. Can't wait! Anyway...
This weekend is going to be fun. Saturday I'll be at XXtuning and Sunday I'll be installing my new brake lines with all new fluid. These speedbleeders should make life easier. I'm getting carried away here.
Thanks again FT.
