IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | All I could find was MRT (apparently hard to install, looks like it's 2 colors, and 1 part is steel (heavy!)? Cusco looks all aluminum so it looks like the way to go. Only other one I thought worth considering is the Carbing Strut Brace with built in MC brace. I'm not a big fan of braces except the X-brace, but I wonder if the Carbing is a 3pt brace and connects to the firewall too... if it does, I think it would be worth getting. So, my IWSTI brethen, is it Cusco or will you talk me out of it? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | personally i would like to get the cusco brace soon as it would complete my brake upgrade package - about as extreme as I want to get for mostly daily street driving without going to a bigger caliper =) |

| Authorized Vendor | the "whoop" is that they work, plain and simple, and are easy to install. The way the stock bracket is designed on the master, when the brakes are pressed firmly, the master moves. This movement causes a loss in overall brake "feel". The braces stop the movement, and as such, lead to more consistent brake feel. http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ng&prodid=1341 |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I have one on both the WRX and the STi, and honestly on the street I couldn't tell much of a difference... but on the track it firms things up a bit for sure. Also got both of them from Z1... |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | Ok here is what it's down to... Carbing FSB with built in MC brace Cusco (lead runner for MC brace ONLY) Perrin I didn't know Perrin made one until a few days ago... their's is aluminum which is lighter but probably not as stiff. The Carbing is also Aluminum... Anybody have any thoughts on the Perrin? |

IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | The cusco piece is made well... and the weight is negligable on such a small piece in my opinion. There's no way the cusco MCB will flex, and on an 06+ sti at least the install is super simple and should take about 10-15 mins tops for a first time install. As far as a a FSB with built in MCB (never seen that before) I imagine it would be much more expensive than a MCB, and as far as performance gain for the buck, you're probably better off getting the cusco or similar MCB and saving the extra dough for something else other than a FSB. That is for performance/$ ratio |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | Decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and got the Carbing 1 piece welded Al brace... the only one better would have been the Cusco 1 piece Ti (super light) with Cusco MCB (heavier)... the 2 separate Cusco pieces would be double the price of the Carbing dual function 1 piece... and with the Cusco MCB being steel and not Al, the overall weights probably would have been similar. Got it from Adam at Z1 auto. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
