IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I am tired of the DIRTY wheels. I wash my car and if I drive 30 miles...I already have my wheels dirty with the pads dust. I want to upgrade the brake system but for know I want new pads with better quality and less dust. I am planning on buying SS lines and fluid in the future but for now I want the pads...... Can you guys suggest good pads/ss lines and fluid. My car is daily driving maybe one auto X per year or less. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | +1 for hawk hps pads goodridge stainless steel lines are great and go with either ate superblue or motul rbf600? for your fluids and make sure you have the rotors turned if you have any miles on them, or just upgrade your rotors when you get new pads. You don't want to put new pads on your old rotors if they have any serious mileage on them. |

| Junior STI Driver | I was looking into hawks for the same reason.. Will have about 25-26k on my car when I get them. Will i need to resurface my rotors and do the whole break-in cycle to get a layer of the new brakes on to the rotors? Or can i just swap them in and go... |

I replaced my pads after just a few thousand miles. I just did not like the fade that I had when I tried to do several successive 70-10 stops on an open highway. I am using Carbotech Bobcats and have maybe 1/8 the brake dust (I can go weeks without cleaning the wheels). I also have Stoptech braided lines and have been running Castrol SRF from day one. To be honest, for daily driving and some autoX, upgraded lines are not needed. In fact, the best thing that I did for brake feel was to adjust the free play. The steel lines produced little to no difference during street driving. The pads, however, were a big bang for the buck since I do not have to wash my wheels every 4 days now. One word of caution..expect less initial bite if you upgrade the pads since most upgraded pads operate better at higher temperatures. This ad is not endorsed by this member.
