Default Brembo letters from red to black

Hello all. I hope I posted this in the correct forum. It is a question/idea relating to the sti. With that said I thought this was the correct forum.

Question/Idea:

I remember reading a thread a while ago that when someone came back from the track his red letters on his calipers turned to black. he asked for some feedback and some fellas said that is normal due to the heat. Well I have an industrial head gun that when on the highest setting will turn a towell into flames. Is it safe and possible to head up the calipers just by me heating it up w/ my heat gun???

A weird question but I think that the black letters would look cool and different

Actually, it looks like ass. Usually people are pretty bummed when this happens and is a symbol of overcooking the brakes. I have never heard of someone wanting them black. If you take a heat gun to your calipers, you stand a chance of damaging the calipers, rotors and pads. If you want black letters so bad, go see your favorite graphics guy.

Did I just respond to this thread?

haha

you responded. Ok, that pretty much answers my question. I didn't think it was too safe either. So it would look burnt and that is not good.

IMO black lettering shows that you use your car for what it is meant for, and I like it

I like the look... the gold turned a bit darker on mine and the text turned a very very dark brown color, almost black.

I think it looks good. However the front doesn't match the rear anymore

I think I posted the thread about the black brembo logo. I almost passed out when I saw it because I thought "dang, the stinking dealer is going to know for a fact that I track it now."

After my last HPDE (at mid o) the caliper in the front turned a bit brown. I don't particulary like it. The black brembo is OK beause my car is black, but the rear is still stinkin' red.

I would not try to heat up the caliper just to switch color. The high heat paint on your caliper will chip a lot faster after the heat cycle. I never had any chipping before the track but now my caliper has a few here and there.

I am still curious however if there is any way to get the information on how hot your caliper has to be to turn the logo black. I bought a brake temp probe for Long Race that I use with my tire temp probe but I forgot it last time I went to the track.

Yea, its not a nice of a color once you track the car.... BUT I would NEVER take a heat gun to my calipers.....

take it out on the track, you will learn a ton and have a blast.. and get the color you are looking for

Does anyone know if they make touch up paint for the calipers or am I being OCD. And dont be insane a heat gun will burn the paint off period might as well put a torch on them if you want other coloured letters get them custom done like Federline did on his Ferrari .....git ...
