The Hawk HPS is an amazing street pad. Very little dust, and awesome bite. It's the best street pad I've ever driven.

I'm actually in the process of looking for a track pad, something that won't fade, but also won't kill my rotors too quickly either. I was thinking of getting the HP+ for this purpose. Can anyone recommend a good semi-track pad that offers good, ade free stopping but won't kill rotors too quickly?

Hawk blues won't wear your rotors real fast, ferodo 3000's are great on track, the pads themselves wear pretty quickly tho. Pagid Orange, Pagid yellows....There are many others.
I've done the F3000's, but my next pad will be the Pagid Yellows(hopefully the -29's).

If you were to review just this sort of as a first stage of modification, what do you like and dislike over stock after doing these?

so what kind of pads and fluid should i get if i use my STi for mainly street use with some autox and an occasional track day? do "racey" pads ruin the stock rotors? are there any draw backs to a more aggressive pad?

lol. Everyone is gonna start thinking about upgrading their brake package.

So Myles how about some pics of these brake ducts you've been teasing us about over at Nasioc.

i'd have to agree... suspension/brakes first then power. ive seen hondas with full turbo setups hitting low 11's on the street but they never uprgraded the brakes.

im running the project mu bforce pads. they have good intial bite, hardly any fade and 1/4 of the dust from the oem brembo's.

Default Get the Best Brakes you can afford

Everyone with these cars is going fast. There will be that day, on the street, where you need to do three-in-a-row stops and that 2 year old, stock brake fluid is going to boil and your pedal is going to be mushy.

At the very least, completely bleed your system with Motul or Castol High Temp (NOT DOT 5 unless you are installing a completely new brake system) and put on good pads.

Miles has a point, $ 2,000.00 on gauges to see IF the motor goes out of range, but not half that on lines, pads and rotors, which you use every stop because your (and everyone on the street's) life depends on it.

Lastly, everyone who swears that the stock brembo's are good enough, has not done multiple 100mph+ stops, they fade and when they fade they go away and when they go away when something is in front of you (insert: wall, turn, tree, babycarriage) you crash.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Buy really good brake components AND really good tires and wait an extra month or two to put on that $ 2,000.00 set of wheels

So I was standing in line at the grocery store. I had on a Racecomp embroidered button down shirt on, and a middle aged guy(dude) taps on my shoulder...." excuse me,....are you Myles..?".....from Racecomp..?

Uhhh,.why yes I am......( I said)

(dude)...I wanted to tell you, thanks,..my son asked me for money to upgrade his brakes and I thought ,...THANK GOD,.something other than wings and spoilers etc.....on his WRX....."..

I was kinda like..WOW !! then I had to pay the cashier and I forgot about it until today.

Just a weird moment I had. Ifelt like Tom Cruise for a moment. LOL.
