IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | I've driven a group N rally car on DS3000s and they do not stop when they are cold. They would be quite a danger on regular streets. The 2500s are good for street/track as long as you don't get too heavy on them or you have decent cooling. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Personally I wouldn't use 2500's on the track. I used 3000's on my last track day and basically used them up in one day. They stopped really well but wear faster than I like. My next pads will be a set of Pagid yellows, which are an endurance pad. From what I've gathered they stop pretty much the same as the 3000's they just don't wear nearly as much. |

I used a set of Hawk blues on that same track day and used about half the material. Generated alot of heat though.........as did Dan's Ferodos. Both of Our front calpiers changed colour. No real fade issuses to speak of, although the initial bite of Blues is a little less than I like. I think I'll try the Performance Friction 97 compound next time. IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | update, I installed the DS3000 pads yesterday and the initial bite is not as hard as the DS2500s but after the first half second they grab as well, if not better than the DS2500s. Definitely not a problem so far here in SoCal summer, but not sure how they would be in colder climates. I'll see how long they last in daily driving and how they treat the rotors which have already seen stock pads and a full set of DS2500s. Probably not much life left in the rotors now anyway. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | Xman, isn't it dangerous to drive with track pads on the street for daily driving because they need to heat up to grab? I was thinking of doing the 2500s for daily and swap in 3000s in the front on track days. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2003 Trader Rating: (3) | I would have thought it would be dangerous also, but the DS3000s still stop the car better than any other normal car when they are cold and you can actually feel them getting better as they heat up. the heating up takes about 1 to 1.5 seconds and then the stopping power is even better than the DS2500s initial bite. definitely not a safety hazard with these particular pads. Other track pads may take more heat to be effective. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
