IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Lately I have been noticeing after my car has been in my garage for a bit of time at night, I smell a bit of, what is either clutch smell, or brake smell. I dont think its clutch, I have only for sure smelled it once, when I did a semi quick clutch engagement launch from about 4000 rpm's, and evidently it wasnt quite quick enough, and it stank for about 20 minutes after. I have since done a 4500 extremely quick clutch let out launch, and it busted the tires loose very well, and I didnt smell a thing. The car has about 2100 miles on it, are the brake pads finally just getting completely broken in,...is that what I am likely smelling? Thanks This ad is not endorsed by this member. | STI Driver | Yeah I think its pretty normal when the STi is new. My clutch had the same smell at times when starting off on hills for the first 2000 miles or so. I now have close to 4500 miles and don't get that smell any more. For me the smell only hung around for a few minutes or so and only happened when i was starting off on a hill.
