Hi guys,
I'm near 22K miles on the stock brake pads and I'll be needing replacements soon. I was wondering if anyone has tried the ones that cobb has for sale on their site, or "Carbotech Bobcat" sold by other vendors (i think they are made by Axxis) I need a pad that offers equal or better braking than the stock for a reasonable price. Better dusting would be a plus, but not that necesary. Any input on what you guys are using would be appreciated.

Thanks
d

Seems to me I remember that the brake pads are on warantee through Subaru for 36000 miles or 36 Months along with the clutch and wiper blades. Check with Subaru.

I usually recommend Hawk HPS or Ferodo 2500 - the Hawks are perfect for the street/track, however the Ferodos are more track based and can tend to squeak and dust far worse than stock... if this is not a relevant issue for you I would opt for the Ferodos - they also have the HD 3000...

We have had alot of success from the PAgid Blue Rs 4-2 and the 4-2-1, the RS-19 is new and available for the sti now, as it last twice, YES, twice as long as the Pagid BLue Race ( RS4-2) and has more bite and managable brake torque feel when braking, making it easier to heel and toe. But the biggest improvement is the bite, initial and in those last 50 or so feet.

We ran the Ds2500s for both street and track, they fade towards the end of a HOT session with a lot of braking. The DS3000s were great for the track and last a decent time, but are not easy on rotors as the Pagid s were. Thats been my experience with the Porsche race car, STIs and most recently a SPEED world challenge M3. I love the PAgids, but either way you cant loose, DS3000 or Pagid BLUE RACE>

I second that...Carbotech also makes a great track pad, the Panther Plus...squeaky and noisy, but once they heat up, they grab like a linebacker at the Playboy Mansion.

my only issue, is I dont see those names in any ALMS, SPEED TC, GRAND-AM, or IMSA pits being used ,....so I tend to trust my life with the big boys, Pagid, Ferodo, PFC......thats my personal issue.

Same thing with Helmets and driving suits.

First replacement pad I used was the Porterfield R4S for the steet and they were great. Sucked at a weekend track event in that they were worn to the backing plates by the end of day two. They stopped like a mofo tho.

I personally LOVE the Hawk brand:

HPS for street use.

HP+ for street/ track use (noisy and take a while to warm up)

Blues for full track use. (don't dare use these on the street)

I'm using the Ferodo DS2500s, for the street, now since the hawks are backordered for the STi.

Also, stay away from EBC green and red, they are worthless.

We were assured by our supplier that the Hawks will be available again in late October - I have been waiting patiently myself...
the Ferodos are good, but too much maintenance for a daily driver IMO

that would be the Hawk HPS - checked back with supplier again and these should be available by the end of the week.
