Default why would brakes vibrate over 40mph?

i have what started out as an '03 wrx and it now has a full sti swap. the calipers are from an '04 sti and the abs is not present. the rotors are brand new ebc slotted and dimpled with new ebc red stuff pads. the fluid is ATE super blue and i also have goodridge stainless lines. at lower speeds the brakes work perfectly, but above 40mph or so, every application of the brakes produces a strong vibration through the steering wheel. just paid a local garage who only works on subarus and is very strongly recommended in the northwest $12,000 for installation of these brakes, and transmission, and several other things. this garage is also who found these calipers and other brake components. id like to autocross soon but with the brakes like this, not a good idea. im hurting for money since i just put $14,000 into my car over the last few months.

Did you bed the brakes properly? My guess would be you have some improper pad transfer stuff going on. I would make several hard stops get the brakes nice and hot, then let them cool overnight.

rotors might be warped. i know u cant turn slotted/drilled rotors... but for example sake throw it on a lathe and see how it spins. i dont care what people say about a rotor not being able to warp, watch it wobble on a lathe.

Yes, actually, you can turn slotted and drilled rotors.

did you burn them in? check the torque specs of caliper to bracket and check that, make sure all lines are tight and pads are seated correctly. even the best of shops can make mistakes.

I asked in 4 different shops "just for to know if the day came" that if they could turn my DBA 5000, and all said - no. Sometign about the the ting that cuts the rotor gets stuck on the slots.

On my previous car I ran slotted rotors and would have them turned with no problems. Now I would only turn them once, and would replace the rotors if they needed it more than once.

No I have a friend that works at Toyota and when he turns his slotted rotors, he never had an issue with it getting stuck

I think he's suggesting that they may be out of balance.
