Default How long should it take?

How long should it take for a shop to change pads, install SS lines, flush and add new fluid and install a new set of rotors?

Just wondering because im getting quotes for labor right now. I am getting 5 hours from one place, but that seems like a bit much. What do you guys think?

The biggest part will be the flush as you will not know how smoothly it will go and how much air they 'may' get in the lines

i actually did all of this with a friend except changing rotors and it did not take that long... you should be able to do this with a friend it is not too hard...
About time though i would say 3 hours mayb 4? if you know what you are doing and taking your time... bleeding is not to bad if you have the right pump.

I say no more than 4 hours especially if a shop is doing the work.

It's so simple man - do it yourself!!! And if you are in the STL for this, then I'm sure someone is willing to help. The brembos couldn't be easier to work with on your own.

I used to work in a shop (not subby) and what we did is we had certain times in a book and then we would multiply that by 1.25 or 1.75 i can't remember it's been over 5 years well anyways they do that so if it takes the tech 3 hours and they quoted you 5 that is how they make their money. If it would take him more than 5 they would lose money. So all in all yes they are over quoting you maybe i should have just said that

5 is definitely way too long. I'm pretty sure with 2 people i've done that in 2 - 3 hours.

5 hours sounds very reasonable man. The dealership always takes into account that something comes up, looking for tools, etc. etc. They always quote high so that they can perform low and look like they did better than estimated.

Also, remeber that they WILL drive your car after this so if you don't like that you need to let them know. However, I think this is an automatic "no warranty" since they couldn't verify their work. Ask them if you can ride with them.

PS: I installed brake lines and pads at the same time and it took me a good 3-4 hours since you want to bleed them nicely, break in the pads and then maybe bleed some more later.

Yea they're most likely going by standard install times and just adding them up. My guess is that it's because you drive for the Dark Side haha

Haha I had to!

Why don't you just do it yourself tho? Pads and rotors are pretty easy to do. The only thing I would be worried about is the brake lines and flushing them properly.

new rotors and pads should only take an hour. changing the lines an hour and flush another hour. So 3 hours and that is taking your time

But seriously find someone to help you and do it yourself, if your in socal I'll help you

FWIW... I was quoted $130 to install Hawk HPS pads, StopTech Lines, and Motul fluid by a reputable brake shop.
