Default Questions about ATE Super Blue

What is the shelf life for this stuff? Can it be stored for 4-5 years (if I don't open it)? I'm thinking about buying 2 cans from Tirerack for $16 each (includes shipping)-- unless someone knows of a better price somewhere else.

And can it be mixed with the Subaru brake fluid that came in the car? Or I do need to flush out all the old fluid first?

You should be fine. It is canned and the fluid will not react with anything since it is vacuum sealed.

Shelf life should be good, for a good while. And While you add the fluid you should bleed you're brakes as well. In the process you will completely swap fluids to only the ate. So basicly start by bleeding you're brakes, and refilling with the ate fluid. Eventually the system will be completely replaced with the ate fluid. Good luck, mine has worked great!

Yeah, don't mix them, it's one type or the other only. Great stuff though. Love mine.

I didn't mean I wanted to use a mixture of 2 different fluids. I just wanted to know if I can pour the ATE into the system while the old fluid is in there. And then bleed the 4 corners until all the old fluid is gone. Or do I have to flush out all of the old fluid first and then slowly fill/bleed the new ATE fluid in. This is what one person told me to do, but I think this would require at least 2 cans of the ATE.

DO NOT run your system dry!!!!! This is REALLY REALLY bad for the seals in the master cylinder. Easy was to do it, is go to one corner and bleed till you see blue (now you may need to ad ATE blue so you dont run dry), then repeat on the remaining 3 corners.

good luck, and ATE blue rocks!!! Also if you want it for cheaper try OGracing.com

Use a turkey baster to suck out as much of the OE fluid as you can. Then refill to the brim with ATE. Then bleed the brakes. Bleed until you see a color change and no bubbles. Then you will have flushed the system and have only ATE. You will probably need to refill the reservoir a number of times to do the whole system. I did it and 1 can was enough.
