Default carbotech xp8, overheating, squealing, improper bedding?

i have two questions, so just a quick blurb about my setup:

goodridge ss lines
ate super blue
xp8 all around
stock RE070 with probably 50% or less

installed everything thursday night, bedded them in, squealing was minimal. had a track day the next morning, managed to fade the brakes 3rd flying lap out (the track was pretty brake intensive to be fair- i topped out 4th, and had to brake into 2nd for T1 and T3 being not that far away as well..). on the way home, started to squeal a lot more.. and now, it's literally ear piercing..

q1) anyone managed to fade these pads pretty easily? am i being TOO aggressive with my brakes? o do i need to be using at least xp10?

q2) i know they squeal, but.. ear piercing?

i hope i've presented all the relevant info to get some answers

thanks for reading!

I run the carbotech xp12's at the track. I thought the 8's were a street compound? I am impressed with the 12's, however, only got 3 trackdays out of the fronts. The rears are good, and look like they should last 3 front replacement cycles.

Carbotech doesn't recommend any of their XP series pads be driven on the street for dust and noise reasons.

xp-8s up front are better suited for much much lighter cars on the track.

If you haven't given up on Carbotech, give them a call and they will be able help you find a combo that works for you.

Yeah, I ran XP10/8 combo on my Miata and it was great. Stupid of me to think that XP8 would be sufficient for an STI and the speeds it would reach in comparison. lol.

I haven't given up yet, I will try the either the 10 or 12 for the fronts... or maybe just Ferodo DS3000s.. heh heh heh.

and I'll be switching the stock pads in today.

the 8s are a track pad as well, but as mentioned by snorky for a lighter car.. ugh, that's a good lesson learned
