Ceramic pads are supposed to be the cure for squeaky pads. Semi-metallic brake pads (which in my opinion have a better bite) are pretty squeaky. Is the car brand new or used, and how many miles?
The 04 I bought was a ''certified'' trade-in at a Subaru dealer, so they put new brake pads and tires on it. However, it was obvious that they cheaped out because the tiers were Avon Tech 550's which are JUNK, and the rotors had (and still have) and obvious lip around the outside which causes a pretty good ring on light braking at low speed (because the pads vibrate due to the rotor lip).
The reasoning for this is front rotors for this car are $200 a piece thru Subaru. Anyways moral of this story is; Ceramic brake pads are supposed to eliminate noise. CERAMIC BRAKE PADS

I can hear my pads when applying the brakes - not squeaks, the actual friction noise of the contact.

i went to midas n they said it was the lip on the outside of the rotor from them being resurfaced that ceramic will make some noise and its normal but excessive noise is due to that lip, to cure it i need new rotors.

I had akibono ceramic brake pads on my old 02 wrx and they never made any noise .
braking was excellent and very very little brake dust.

Brake questions belong in the brake forum. Incredible how that works.

I find that I have horrible squeak during light braking at low speed when I have a lot of brake dust... I wash my car and no more squeak for about 4 or 5 days.
