IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | My car is at the dealership and they are telling me I need new brakes. They said they will resurface the rotors under warranty, but I have to pay for the brake pads. They will cover the labor but I have to pay for the pads themselves. And I asked him, when will the pads be good to be replaced under warranty and he said until just about when they are metal to metal. Is this right? Why the **** is there a warranty when I still end up paying for parts under it? My car has ~27500 miles on it so the warranty is still good. I never touched the brakes when modding. NEED Help guys! But if something happened because of bad rotors?? Then they should give the brakes for free. I would birth real bad and not pay them a dime!!! Tell them if it wasn't for the bad rotors the brake pads would be fine! Thus you owe them nothing! |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | I asked them to do everything except the pads that they were gonna do, then he comes back and tells me that he wont resurface the rotors unless I pay for the new pads. He said it will wear out the pads that are on there now faster? So basically they wouldnt do anything unless I buy the pads or the pads are almost all gone. This sounds like some bs. Why the **** would I wait till my pads are almost gone and risk getting into an accident, THEN come in under warranty to have them replaced. How am I supposed to know when they are at the point when they replace them under warranty. So you guys think I should call SOA and tell them whats going on? |

Thats what i asked them to do but they said they wont resurface the rotors unless there are new pads on the brakes. And they said if I wait till the pads are low enough, then I run a chance of messing up the rotors with the worn down pads and if that happens, then it will be my fault and they wont touch anything and they will charge me full for parts and labor. WTF kinda bs is this. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | I called SoA and they said they are going to contact the dealership and see what the service adviser says about the car. Its just ridiculous that its even a question to replace the pads under warranty or not when the adviser "strongly recommends" I do and the mechanic that worked on my car comes out and spends 5 mins explaining to me why I should. |

| Platinum Member | Wow, sounds like a dealership trying to make a quick buck off of you. My guess is that SOA will get you taken care of and you will roll out with new rotors & pads. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 Trader Rating: (4) | wow SoA did crap. All he did was call them to find out what they did and he came back and fed me the same bs. Telling me i'm at 6mm thickness on my pads and I need to be at 4mm. So they call that preventative maintenance. So I have to be at 4mm thick and when my wheels start to shake under braking, THEN i have to take it in. Is this the biggest bunch of bull**** you've ever heard? |
